1st Birthday Party Planning- Please help me...
Hi,
I am planning Ava's 1st Birthday and trying to decide on a start time. I am having it at my sister's house, so I know Ava will not nap there anyway.
Ava usually goes down at 9 am and maybe 1 or 2 pm for her naps. I would like to put her down at home for the 1st nap and then leave when she wakes up to go to my sisters and set up.
So, I was thinking if she naps from 9-10:30 then we can leave and go there around 11 to set up. So I was thinking of doing a noon start time for the party.
We are having the Little Mermaid come and I need to let her know what time to arrive. Should she arrive at the start of the party or somewhere in the middle??
I have never done this before. I would think she should come mabye 1 or 2 hours after the party starts??
Can someone please help me out with this. I need help deciding on a start time for the party and help deciding on what time to have the Little Mermaid come.
Also, should I do a time constraint party. Like 12-4 or something? It is the 4th of July, so I should just let the party carry on, right? What do you all think??
Thanks so much, Denise

Usually when it's a party at home, it's tough because people usually assume that the party will go on (esp. being that it's on July 4). Could you start it later in the afternoon, around 3-4? as opposed to 12? that way, the kids can have their naps and you can have pretty much the whole day to set-up and as for the Little Mermaid, I would have her surprise the kids a few hours into the party.

I agree I would start the party later so that your daughter will have both her naps and the other children will have thiers as well especially being its 4 of July people aren't going to expect o leave at a certain time and I would have the little mermaid come to the party like 2 hours into it

Ok, I am thinking of doing 2 or 2:30. Serving the food at 3:30 and the LM coming at 4? Do you think that is ok or too late?

I think that's fine except it's a little late for the food if it's lunch (at least for kids). But moms will appreciate any extra food you can get into a fussy toddler.

What if we serve the food right away? Or at 3?

That's fine.. Do you plan on having appetizers? chips/dips, that stuff?
Oh and I know that for me, being a mom, I would know to make sure my kids have had their lunch before going to the party, so I personally wouldn't worry about the whole time thing.
