1st Birthday Questions
Ok, I am wayyyyyyyyyy off from having her first birthday, but I was just putting thoughts into a few things (you got me thinkin' Paulette! )
Where did you have it? Restaurant, home, kiddy place (Chuck E Cheese), or someplace else?
How much can I expect to spend per person depending on where you did it?

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
Well, I am reluctantly having it at a hotel because I don't have a backyard to ahve it in and no one in my family has a big enough backyard. The prices have ranged from 14.95pp+, we're paying about 21pp for her party. I think it's a little insane since she's one, and hello, she won't remember it, but I know it will mean a lot to my family. This has prompted us to search for a house with a big backyard, though! I wish I had one NOW!

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
You all got me thinking about planning DS's birthday now! His birthday is 10/21 not sure if I should plan a holloween theme or just a regular birthday. Must book now if having it in a hall or restaurant......... Any ideas for me?
A snow or icical theme is cute for a Girl's December birthday.....

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
Having Kerri's in a church hall.....we give whatever donation we find suitable for the room. My Mom and I are making some food and we are having some catered...actually turning out not to be much $$ for 40 people

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
We are having DD's in our backyard. We are BBQ'ing and maybe getting a couple of dishes catered.
We did the same for her Christening - I was in the kitchen for mosy of the day cause I did the cooking - so we are changing it up so I am not indoors all day

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
We had it at a back room in a pizzeria. It cost me the same $$ that it would have if I had it home. They were super reasonable. If I had a summer baby I would have done a BBQ.

Gina...what pizza place? I am thinking of one of two things...J&R's steakhouse or whitepost farm. Though I did like Rachels idea but when I started to add on to Rachels idea it got expensive. I was thinking of a dj...OY! Katie...dont shoot for the same day

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
No DJ for me - no way! Going on a previous suggestion, maybe I will use a room at the church. I would rather my "rental" $$ go to my church than a hall. I am more into low-key have fun with family parties anyway!

Giorgio's in Nesconset. They owner let my whole party order off of an open menu. The kids got pizza and chicken nuggets. They were really nice to work with.

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
Sarah's 1st and 2nd were at home, and Andy's 1st will be here too. About 30 people for their 1st birthdays, we had about 20 for her 2nd.
For Sarah's 1st we did pizza, for her 2nd we sent people menus to a restaurant she likes along with the invite and when they responded they told us what they wanted and then we had the food delivered.
For Andy's 1st it will be a BBQ.

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
Unless you have other children, a first birthday is really for you. Your DC has no idea what is going on.If your child likes attention, its just a bunch of peoplep for him/her to play with. If your chld hates attention its just a bunch of people annoying/scaring them.
So do what YOU want. We weregoing to have a BBQ at my sister's building's courtyard, but due to the Nor'easter, we had it in her apartment. Its was great.
Also, IMO- there will be plenty of birthday parties where kids will want Spongebob or Dora or a bouncer or a pony. Keep this one simple since its mainly for you.

Re: 1st Birthday Questions
Hi. We had DD's first birthday at my parent's house because we were in the middle of moving and all of our stuff was in boxes. The food was catered, my IL's brought the cake. Very small get-together. (The presents were over-whelming. Everyone spoiled DD with tons of presents- big over-sized presents.)
