1st doctor appointment
I was speaking to our future pediatrician yesterday. I asked when the first appointment would be after we got home from the hospital thinking it would be two weeks (because that is what I've read). She said that since it's twins and my first that they will see them 3-4 after we get home. I was fine with that since it's close, but more because I will be breastfeeding and want to make sure they are doing well. However, my DH seems to be uneasy about such an early appointment. More so because I will be having them early March and he doesn't want them out in the winter or at least as little as possible. So when did your pediatrician see your babies? How do I dress them in the winter for the appointment? Do they need coats? I have a snuggler on each car seat. Is that enough besides a blanket and regular clothes (hat, etc.)?

Don't remember the exact time, but two or three days sounds about right. He said we didn't need to rush, since the hospital peds checked them out, but definitely well under a week after release.
ETA: March is the tail end of winter. What would have happened if you had DC in December? Babies do just fine in the winter. Ask anyone in Minnesota.... Warm up the car beforehand (this is where a remote start comes in handy... ), dress DC in a warm outfit, with layers, and put a blanket over them (and over the seatbelt. Don't put too much stuff on them under the seatbelt.) The minute from the house to the car, and the other minute from the car to the office isn't going to have any effect on DC.

Re: 1st doctor appointment
I had my appointment today which was 6 days after he was born and the one doctor in my practice said the girl should have scheduled me either monday or tuesday meaning just 3 or 4 days after I left hospital....wasn't a big deal but I am pretty sure, they like to see your baby inside of a week of you being released from hospital.

Re: 1st doctor appointment
My doctor said she wanted to see DS 2-3 days after we left the hospital.nn She schedules infants before the other patients come to the office, so I didn't worry about him picking up some bug. Is that your DHs concern, or does he think it's too soon to take DC out anywhere?

Re: 1st doctor appointment
we were at our ped for a weight check 3 days after we were discharged. that is typical and needed for breastfed babies since its hard to tell how much they are taking in. i wouldnt worry too much about it being march, they will be bundled.

Re: 1st doctor appointment
2 days after he was released...thats the norm. They need to check the weight and the jaundice (which most babies are born with).
