1st Internal Today!!!- 36 weeks 4 days UPDATE
So I start my internals today. i am a little nervous bc some of you said it was painful but more than that I am so curious to know if there have been any changes going on there yet.
Wish me luck!!
UPDATE:
First internal did hurt but not as bad as I was expecting at all. Soon as it was done, pain was gone.
But....there is no progress. Dr said I am closed shut and baby is high (but head down so that is good).
Not dilated at all.
Ok...on to next week!!

Good luck! I am not going to lie the internal was not fun, but you need to get them done. Don't worry you will be fine.

no you dont  just wanted to mention that internals are NOT necessary and you can refuse them if you want
they mean nothing as you can be 1cm dialated and give birth the next day or you can be 5cm dialated for weeks

yeah my doc said the same thing...he said if I wanted one he'd do one, but he doesn't normally do them for this reason. I kinda like that. Anything to avoid the area right now!

they may not be mandatory, but my doctor said the fact that people are dilated/not dilated is very important, since it shows that your body is naturally preparing for labor if you are dilated, even if it doesn't give an exact estimate of time. if you are later and not dilated, your body isn't preparing naturally and there is a greater chance you'll need an induction.
anyway, just had my second, not going to lie, they bring tears to my eyes and i bleed, but i like knowing what's going on down there!

Thank you, not enough women know this.
They also increase the risks for infection and going into labor too early.
