1st OB visit-do they do a sonogram?

Hi Ladies, I just made my first appt with my OB. I am 7 weeks today and was just released from my RE. I have been having weekly sonograms due to a hematoma but when I made the appt today I forgot to ask if I will get a sono. It's been 3 years since I've had my DD so I can't remember what is normal at a regular OB office as opposed to frequent sono's at my RE. Thanks!

I don't know if this is normal, but I did have one at my first OB appt. Haven't had one there since though, they usually schedule my sons for a different time and location. But they listen to the heartbeat every time, which is my favorite part of the appointment.

I transitioned from my RE to my OB at 9 weeks and they did do a sonogram at that first appt. I don't recall one that early with my 3-yr old, but given that I'm coming from a RE and now considered high risk - I expected one this time around.

Oh I also came from an RE, so my sono at my OB was my 4th. I told them I had previous sonos and they still did one.

I came from an RE also and did not get one at my first ob appt. my next sono is the nt scan at 12 weeks.

Thanks Ladies, I remember with my first pregnancy I was released from my RE at like 6.5 weeks and didn't get my first appt until I was almost 9 weeks. I wasn't supposed to get a sonogram but my Dr. felt bad for me that it had been so long he gave one, that is where I found out I had a missed-miscarriage and the baby stopped growing at around 8 weeks. My second pregnancy with my dd, I can't remember if I had one or not. I do remember that I had a heavy bleed right after and I went in for a sono and it was a hematoma so maybe I didn't get one. I guess I will find out on the 6th, I should be 8 weeks then.

I conceived via IVF with a RE and was having bloodwork and sonograms up until I "graduated" at around 7 weeks. Because I was superstitious, I didn't call to get an appointment with my OB until I graduated. My first OB appointment was at 9 weeks and yes, I did have a sonogram in the office!

I had a transvaginal sono at 8 weeks (first appt). Sono at 12 and 20.

Honestly it depends on the practice. With My dd I started seeing an OB recommended by my RE and they did not do a sonogram during my first OB visit. I switched at 10 weeks to my regular gyn who also did not do a sonogram at my first OB visit with her. I had it the following week.

I was a little over 7 weeks at my first appt. and I had a sonogram

My first appt was about 8 weeks and yes, they did an transvaginal sono

With my first i had a sono at 6 weeks
With my second, different practice, had 1st sono at 8 wks

It really depends on your OB, but probably.

With my first pregnancy, my OB wasn't going to do an u/s since I had one a week before with my RE. I begged her to do one, and she did it.

With my second pregnancy and a different OB, they did one with no questions.

I think it depends on the dr... I've had a sono at every appointment so far. 7 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks. I have a 16 week on Tuesday and I'm hoping they do a sono and maybeee we can find out what we're having.

I was about 6 weeks and yes I had a sonogram but my practice gives you a sonogram at every appointment. 6,8,10,12 then it goes to every 4 weeks
