Re: 1st sono/doc appt

I just had my first appt this week. When I called she said they are required to see me within a week of my call- While there the DR had me schedule our first sonogram in another 2 weeks- (i'll be about 7 weeks then)

I had one at 6 weeks. To be honest I think it has to do with the Dr and the insurance company that you have!! The sono technician was telling us the other day that we were lucky because we have a semi-easy insurance company when it comes to sonos. Some of them refuse to pay for 'excess sonos'.

Re: 1st sono/doc appt

Usually my Doc does 7 weeks for appt and sono, unless you have had any issues they will see you right away and then schedule a 7 week sono.

I agree....my insurance company will only cover 3 sonos per pregnancy. My dr's office has to prove to the ins company why I need additional sonos before I can have any more than 3.

Every doctor is different.

After my BFP I called my OBGYN and explained that I may be pregnant. My doctor wanted to see me right away, I was only 4 weeks at the time. They treated that as if it was the first visit, they not only gave me a sono but also did a PAP and took my urine.

Re: 1st sono/doc appt

The first time I was pregnant, my OB saw me right away and did a blood test. They then rescheduled a sono for 8 weeks. (I miscarried at 8 and never got the sono).

The second time I went in for a blood test when I called and said I was pregnant. The OB called with the results and told me to come back the next week for a sono. I turned out to be 7 weeks. I came back at 9 weeks for another sono and thats when they did the Pap smear and all the other blood tests.

Re: 1st sono/doc appt

My first Dr. told me to wait 8 weeks to schedule and he said he does not do a sono then, just more bloodwork.
I changed Dr.'s but could not get an appointment so I am going at 11 weeks...very late and much later than I would like but I am glad I have a new dr. office that I likeChat Icon
