1st Trimester - Back Pain. Can we use Tiger Balm or Icy Hot?

I'm in agony with back pain, which I don't usually get, so I don't know why I have it, but it started with very low back pain last weekend (like sciatic nerve maybe) and now I have that along with upper/middle back pain and neck pain. I can just feel the knots all over.

I THANKFULLY have a masage tomorrow at my fav place (Welcome Back), but I was wondering if I'm allowed to have her use Tiger Balm or Icy Hot on my back? I wanted to ask my Doctor, but the p.a. never called me back yesterday, so I don't know what to do.

I don't know about either of those products, but I do know that massage isn't recommended for women in their first trimester. Talk to your doctor about it before you take it from me, but I really think you should ask before you go to your appointment tomorrow.

im sorry you are in pain.

i have also heard that youre not supposed to get massages at all (even prenatal massages) during the first tri. even though there are safe ways to massage during the first tri, many places wont give them if you are in the first tri at all due to liability. i tried getting one while i was TTC and doing fertility treatments and they refused to give it to me just in case. youre specifically not suppose to get massaged in the vacinity of the uterus or ovaries (back or front).

many places (unless its a regular nail place) make you fill out a form or ask if you are pregnant before the massage. you might want to look into it before you go there.
