1st trimester question
DH and i are TTC and he recently booked us a trip for Aug to Aruba.
My cousin said that youre not supposed to travel outside US in the first trimester (this ofcourse being IF i even get PG before Aug).
Is this true If so, why? Is it bc of risk of m/c?

Re: 1st trimester question
My guess would be to prevent picking up any parasites.

Re: 1st trimester question
Usually they don't want you flying after 34 weeks. The only thing I could think a MD would not want you flying in the first triemster is somewhere where you have to worry about parasites etc...Mexico and the water or maybe some of the countries in S. America. You should be fine going to Aruba.
You can call your MD and ask their opinion, that would be my best advice!

Re: 1st trimester question
I never heard that. I could there being a concern about traveling to Third World countries, but I don't know why all travel outside the U.S. would be restricted.
I didn't travel outside the U.S., but I flew to CA at 10 weeks.

Re: 1st trimester question
My dr said the only reason not to fly during the first trimester is because the risk of miscarriage can be pretty high, and you wouldn't want to be someplace unfamiliar and not be able to get access to good medical care. After we heard the heart beat though, he said it would very likely be fine and if I wanted to travel, go for it. That said, he did say don't go any place to exotic/foreign because of parasite risk. I think Aruba would be fine. In fact, we are planning a trip to Aruba at the end of August. I'll be about 26 weeks.

Re: 1st trimester question
I went to Aruba in the beginning of my 1st trimester upon doctors approval. He said it was fine, just to be careful what I ate, stick to bottled water.

Re: 1st trimester question
I think it would be totally fine - just confirm with the doctor.
