Re: 2 Bedroom Dutch Colonial $334k in Bellmore

Its an awesome price but it needs a lot of work and the property is small. I wish i had the money to buy it and fix it up and rent it out till next Spring / Summer when the prices go back up so I could sell it then....

My stepmother purchased a house just like that before she met my father. Although it is a two bedroom, they did an extention in the back of the house and basically extended the dining room, added another room, bathroom and laundry area. The second bedroom is small, but it works. If it is given a refresher, it can be such a warm and comfortable home. She has a bay window in the front, but it is the same layout as this house and in all honesty, I looove her house. It is a really warm and deceivingly spacious house.

My brother is in contract for this house!! He passed on the Campground house he was looking at.

Yes, the inside is in pretty bad shape but the outside isn't too horrendous and it's in a great S/D for his daugther. We're going to have a painting party when he close (he can't afford to gut right now). Gotta cover up that roller rink purple sponge disaster that covers every room!Chat Icon

Well, that deal fell through. There are renters in the house and the owners had to go through an eviction process to get them out. They finally got in to inspect the place the other day and it was TOTALED!!!!! Not to mention the engineers report was SCARYChat Icon At this point, it's probably going to be a tear down.

wow. that price is crazy... even if the house IS really ugly. someone that invests and fixes it up can make a NICE profit... but i can't imagine any of us newlyweds doing it... unless you're in the business.... then again, maybe i'm wrong!

Re: 2 Bedroom Dutch Colonial $334k in Bellmore

The ceilings in the house are only 7'4" (makes the rooms appear smaller) and the basement ceilings are only 5'6" (you have to literally duck and then some to navigate around). Like I said, the interior is WORSE than the pictures because the renters were P.O.'d that they were being forced to leave and decided to tear up the place. The bedrooms are TINY and cut up funny. He was willing to overlook some of the cosmetic issues but when the whole thing is sagging into the center of the house and you're talking a complete rebuild of the main beam of the house, jacking it off the foundation, etc., now you're moving into major $$$ outside of a new kitchen, bathroom, etc.
