2 dogs, Abandoned Beagle and Lab Mix up for adoption

I just found out that someone left an adult beagle and an adult lab mix tied to a tree right outside the Suffolk County Bar Association Building. The staff of the Bar Association had to take the dogs to the Islip shelter. The dogs seem to be well cared for, friendly and very gentle. They are hoping that the dogs will be adopted together, as they seem very bonded. The dogs are listed on petfinder. I can get their listing #s for anyone interested. The Islip shelter DOES euthanize dogs that are not adopted but they promise to make tremendous efforts. I don't think that the ladies who work at the Bar Association were able to find a no-kill shelter, as I believe they would have tried. It is believed that tough economic times may have had something to do with this. Animal abandonment is a misdemeanor.

I was jsut doing research on this shelter and it truns out that the Lab Mix was killed. He went from being a friendly happy dog to vicious.... wonder how that happens. The beagle went from being very attached to him to afraid... again, sounds odd.
