2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
Aly goes to sleep for the night (supposedly) LATE...like 11pm or even later.
We normally sit and watch tv in bed from 8-till whenever she falls asleep.
Should I NOT be doing this? What time SHOULD she be going to sleep for the night?

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
I have not put Katie on any kind of schedule. Maybe that is bad, I am not sure.
But now at 3 months she is pretty much asleep for the night at 9:30- 10:00.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
It's so hard to wonder if I'm doing the right thing....
some books say one thing, others say the opposite.
Then you have all the LIF mommies and friends and relatives giving their way and I just can't help but think I'm doing it WRONG because my baby isn't doing the same things......

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
I don't think there is any "right" or "wrong" way of doing things. I believe everyone has their "own" way of doing things and that is how it should be. Your not a bad mommy- it just the schedule your daughter is on right now. Frankie use to stay up "late" too, but now as he is getting a little older (3 months) he is starting to make his own schedule of wanting to be in bed by 9:30. Just do what is right for her and makes her happy. She will soon want to be put to bed earlier and you will adjust your schedule to fit hers.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
My babies don't really have a bedtime per se - really its whenever they fall asleep. Usually Zachary will fall asleep around 8-9:00 (at least lately!) and Hailey is more of a night owl, she'll hang on until 10-11:00.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
Please don't feel like you are a bad mom. My daughter had no schedule and I tried everything because I thought that was the right thing to do. Looking back she made her own schedule when she was ready. Yes it was crazy never knowing when she would nap or fall alseep but now she has a great schedule she set herself and things are wonderful. Having a newborn is hard and trying to figure everything out is hard. It will get easier and Aly will make her own schedule when she is ready. I always find that when I try and put her on MY schedule everything goes to he**. When I let her do her thing she gets into a routine and it is great. I am a planner and a list maker so this was tough for me but in the end it was what worked for my family. Chin up and never think of yourself as a bad mom. It is a waste of energy. We are all just trying to figure motherhood out. Give yourself a break.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
Miranda had a pretty late bedtime until about 3 months then it moved to 9ish, then 8 and now 7-7:30. I think its fine. She's still really young to have a rigid schedule.

Alex is 2 months old & seems to fall asleep at 10 every night. She gets tired around 9ish though, so I feed her & the off to bed.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
I used to keep Jared up to 11 pm too. We had to quickly break him of that habit because I could never get anything done! Slowly and slowly, I started giving him his bath and bottle earlier until I got him to go to bed at 8-8:30.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
You are such a great mom!
We have Carolyn on a schedule of 8pm, but it is not for her. No altruism there. It is for DH and I. We need some alone time as a couple and find that the night is the only way to get it.
So do whatever is comfortable for you. I have plenty of friends who have their kids up till 11. They sleep later!

Emily was staying up until about 12 or 1 until about 3 months, now she goes to sleep between 8:30-9:30.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
I'm no help b/c Jack at 3 months still isn't sleeping through the night and we have no schedule whatsoever.
With Ava she just dictated what time she wanted to go down for the night and I made the routine from there.
I find that it was easier to have a bedtime routine once she was sleeping through the night consistently.
I'm just praying that Jack starts to sleep through soon b/c I'm EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
I think 2 months is way to young to expect a baby to be on a schedule. You;re a wonderful Mommy, Alyson will help guide you through Mommy-hood, I always followed my kids' lead when they were that young.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
Noah has no set bedtime either. I just bring him up to bed with me when I go, thats usually around 10/11 pm. Some nights he falls asleep around 9ish and I put him down to sleep in the pram in the living room, but most nights I bring him upstairs fighting the sleep and he falls asleep around 11.30/12 ish
I have tried to put him down to bed earlier, but he just screams, so he wins! I bring him downstairs for the evening.
I am ready for a schedule, unfortunately, he is not.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
When she starts eating more at a time it will be easier. My dr told me they will work out their own schedule and Jack did.
He is 13 weeks and has 5... 6 ounce bottles a day. He goes to bed at 8:30 and sleep until 7 am. He has been doing this for the last month.
Good luck and your a good MommY... she will set her own schedule.

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
You're not a bad mommy at all... at 2 months things are still haywire and you're both still trying to figure each other out! I know with Alex at 2 months she was going to sleep between 11pm and midnight! And each night was different. It wasn't until about 3 months that she started falling into a routine where she would go down for the night between 7pm-8pm. Give it time and patience... you'll both find your way soon

Re: 2 month old bedtime? I think I'm a bad mommy
Logan never really had a set schedule (and still doesn't) and he usually didn't fall asleep until 10:30-11:30 or so. At about 4 months I started to feed him a little earlier and get him down a little earlier but it still ended up being around 10 or so. Recently (6 mos tomorrow ) he's been showing that he's tired earlier and has been going down about 8:30 or so. She is still young and may just adjust to an earlier time on her own like he did .
