2 more favor questions-- for a 4-year-old/1-year-old party
Ok, 2 different scenarios, I need help with favors:
1st party-- for my daughter's 4th b-day. Theme is Olivia the Pig, at a gymnastics place. All her school friends (and a few additional personal friends) are invited. Will probably have about 10-12 kids.
I had gotten these, because I know many of the kids from her school would love them (and DD loves these books). They're the ready-to-read ones.
Is that a "cool" enough gift though? Will kids like it? I mean, we've been to about 5 parties for her school friends so far this year, and many of them have been candy favors (which DD hates candy). Just wanted to make sure this is nice enough. I was thinking about adding something edible with it, but what? I want it to fit the theme (but be very affordable) if I'm going to supplement.
2nd party-- my girls' combined birthday party at our house. 4th b-day and 1st b-day. Maybe 40 people at our house. Not a ton of kids, maybe 6 or so. Cupcake theme....what favors do I do? I'm so out of ideas for favors! We are going to do a cupcake decorating table, but I don't want that to be the whole favor, you know?
Thanks!!

I think the book is a great favor. You don't have to include anything else with it.
For the family party how about doing cookies in the shape of cupcakes wrapped in cello?

What about a packet of seeds to go with each book, since it's a gardening book.

I agree-I am over the bag of random stuff favors. I would love if Claire got a book as a favor.
I love Diana's idea for the cookie favor too.

I think the book is plenty. We received a book as a favor once with a cute little label inside the cover that said Thanks for celebrating my 3rd birthday with me, your friend-Brendan. I thought it was adorable and PLENTY! As far as the combo party, what about a cute kiddie plate, cup or bowl?

Thanks girls! I forgot to add that I got 2 different titles of the book so that kids in the same family got 2 different books.

Re: 2 more favor questions-- for a 4-year-old/1-year-old party
I was just a little concerned that the book wouldn't be as appreciated by boys for some reason...I have no boy experience and I know boys love books a much as girls do I'm sure....that was my main concern. For example, 2 of the boys in DD's class just turne 5...was concerned they wouldn't be overly thrilled with the book, you know?
