2 Naps a Day
How old was your baby when he/she started taking the 2 naps/day (10am & 1pm approx)? My DD is 4 1/2 mos old and for some reason today she is still not tired and it is 8:45am- mind you she woke up at 6am and typically she goes back to sleep within an hr- 1 1/2 hrs of being up. We are now at almost 3 hrs and she still hasn't gone to take a nap. I'm wondering if she is transitioning herself to take less naps now that she is older. Whaddya think?

Re: 2 Naps a Day
hmmm....not sure. DD is 5 1/2 months and she'll do 3 naps if they are shorter naps, but if she takes her long 2 1/2 hr nap, it's only 2 and maybe a catnap in the car.
Maybe she got some good sleep....maybe she's enjoying whatever is stimulating her at this moment.
Just watch for her tired signals more than anything....sometimes my daughter can't go more than 45 min before wanting to sleep again and sometimes she can go 3 hrs or more!!!

Re: 2 Naps a Day
Thanks Shana.......my kid is good at giving signals and goes down pretty easy when tired. It's just odd that she hasn't fallen asleep yet and i've put her in the crib and she'll lay there, **** the paci but won't go to sleep. So i've taken her out like 2x just coz i don't want her laying in there if she isn't tired. Sofia's typical schedule is basically she eats every 3-4hrs (sleeps in between those feeding for about 1-2hrs each time) She typically takes a long one in the AM and 3 1hr ones in the PM till her bedtime.

Re: 2 Naps a Day
that was around the time that I had to "force" DS to take his morning nap...he can't fall asleep on his own, like at night.
everymorning (like you - about 2 hours after he wakes up), I lay him in bed with me and we sing and I pet him until he falls asleep...most of the times its within a minute. At around that age, I would put my nose at the bridge of his nose and that usually worked too. (It doesn't anymore at over 1 year)
I either leave him in our bed, with pillows around him or if I am sure he's sound asleep, I'll carry him into bed.
I know its not the best training, but he falls asleep on his own in the afternoon and at night and I know that this nap will be going soon, so I enjoy my morning quiet!!
