2 people in 1 day asked if I was pregnant
2 people at work in 1 day asked if I was pregnant because I was complaining about being nauseous. This was like 6 weeks ago.
Now, for some background information- I AM NOT!
Today, rumors were flying around work that one of the girls gained weight and looks pregnant even though she hasn't said anything yet and people are guessing that she is pregnant (she just got married recently).
Nowww.. here's my question. I know that since my wedding last year I gained like 5lbs- but that's it- and it's because of the cold weather and me being lazy. I am SOOO self conscious now that there were rumors flying about ME 6 weeks ago and that's why people asked. 1 of the people who asked if a man who is old enough to be my dad- why would he care??!?! Do you girls think I'm taking this all too personally? ... I know it's impossible to answer this with nobody knowing my shape- but I am very petite .. and never paid attention to the 5 extra pounds until this happened. Will someone please tell me I'm taking it too personally?!?! I really hope my co-workers weren't trying to "politely" find out if I had a baby in me or too many doughnuts!

Re: 2 people in 1 day asked if I was pregnant
I feel the same way. I have gained 8 lbs after coming off BCP in September. I will be married two years this June. I feel very self-conscious and fear that people think Im pregnant when I actually just gained weight...
Im working my @ss off trying to get it off now.. before I really get pregnant.

I think when women are recently married and then are suddenly nauseous, people will just assume it could be that you're pregnant - I'm SURE the 5 lbs you gained is NOT the reason why!!!!!! Just because someone else gained weight and they are thinking that does not mean they thought the same about you
I on the other hand, have gained more than 5 lbs (um, much more) since getting married and I unfortunately carry most of my weight in my tummy and hips/butt so I'm ALWAYS worried that people think I'm preggo when in fact I'm just fat, lol. I just ran into a friend of mine that I haven't seen in almost a year and I noticed she kept looking at the tummy fat... I was like, oh lord, no I'm not prego, but thankfully she didn't ask or outwardly assume.

Re: 2 people in 1 day asked if I was pregnant
I have a tendency to get INCREDIBLY bloated when I take in too much sodium and I end up looking pregnant. My belly protrudes pretty obviously and my face fills out from it. If someone asked me if I was I think I would be mortified

Re: 2 people in 1 day asked if I was pregnant
OMG I think that is completely ridiculous that they are even asking you - what do they expect you to say - Yes, as a matter of fact I am I mean - come on - if you were and you were sharing you would have told them already!
I'm sure its not how you look - I don't usually think looking heavier would prompt people to ask b/c that would be nervy if they just gained weight KWIM? But definitely the nausea - in fact, I asked one of my friends the other day when she said she was nauseated - but, if she looked like she had gained weight i would never ask...

HA! Good point! I mean their responses were .. "are you sure you're not pregnant" and from the other person- "maybe you're pregnant!" Would I really be like, "hmm good point, maybe I am" They were saying it so casually, it almost felt like we were a group of good friends hanging out by my locker in HS!
Since then, if I am nauseous, I keep it to myself!

Thanks! My plan is to get in better shape this summer so when we actually do TTC (next summer, hopefully sooner), and I gain weight, people can assume I am pregnant and be RIGHT about it Although part of me feels like- ok so I am going to get in all this record breaking wonderful shape, to gain it all back and then some? In any case, that's my plan! And hopefully that will make it easier to loose the baby weight afterwards
