To have another shower or not?

my grandma wanted to do one and fly my sister down here and I told her no because #1 I felt it was tacky, and #2 I was so thouroughly disappointed in the one my SIL threw that I just did not want one

If it were me, I would skip it. I am sure people will just give you little boy stuff at the time of his birth

Mine are two years apart and I knew the second one was a girl, but did not have a shower. Since we didn't find out for our first, most of the newborn stuff we had was gender neutral, so we were fine.

Nah, I think its weird, my honest opinion.

I ahve seen showers for people with like older kids..9 years old and up and differnet genders, but I dont assume in my own situation I will ever have any shower if I have more kids.

I am old school..One shower a person.

People will bring you gifts anyway , you know that.

And what big ticket items could you need when your Daughter is still so young?

I think its tacky, sorry.

If the kids were older than an intimate family "sprinkle" *migth* be appropriate, but not when they are so close in age.

My honest opinion..

Since DD and #2 are so close in age you dont' really need much. Everyone will send/bring clothes when they come visit the baby.

Tell Grandma instead of spending money throwing your shower and paying to fly your sister down for it - That you would prefer her to put that money into a really good $$ double stroller which is the only big ticket item you say you really need.

In the long run it will be cheaper for her even if she gets you a top of the line stroller and you will be getting the big ticket item you need.

I wouldn't want one. I am not a big fan of having a shower (for myself) in the first place. I know that if we have a girl we will get more clothes and other girl related gifts than we know what to do with! My mom has already offered to buy the double stroller as a gift and I know my in-laws will chip in for the furniture.

I think 2nd showers are in poor taste in general, especially 2 years apart.

I'm not having one... I'm sure family and friends will get you something anyway when the baby is born.

My mom threw a shower for me with DD, because I never had a shower with DS. She felt bad that I never had one. I was honestly a bit uncomfortable with it at first, but it ended up being a lot of fun. If I had had one with DS, I never would have had one with DD.

I skipped it. I wouldn't even consider having one.

My work did throw me a surprise one for the second baby because I went into labor the day my first shower was scheduled & missed it.

I think they are too close in age. People will buy you gifts regardless.

I know that alot of people have "sprinkles" now- but Im still a firm believer in 1 shower/ person- unless of course there is a big age gap...

I know- my office would have a little work shower for me, and like others have said- you get so many gifts when people come to see you at the hospital- or come to the house to see baby for the first time...

Other than clothes what could you really need?

I think that any baby is a blessing regardless of gender or age difference- as we all do. I don't think that there is anything wrong with another shower.

Call it a "sprinkle". have guests just come to enjoy each others company and celebrate your upcoming new arrival.
