My doctor said no public places for 6-8 weeks. I guess it is up to you but it is cold season.

Re: 2 weeks old question

Are you BFing? If so then it should probably be ok, because the baby is getting your immunities. If not, I would probably hold off for a while. But if you do decide to bring the baby, make sure noone touches her.

I'm primarily bfing and supplementing. I guess better safe than sorry - I'll wait a bit. Thanks!

Re: 2 weeks old question

I think it is fine. I brought DS out at 2 weeks and he was fine.

I don't see a problem with it. No one needs to hold her or touch her and it isn't much different then having people to your house. I had Molly out and about by that time.

I took my DS to the mall at 6 days old. Our ped said that it was fine to take him out as long as everyone does not touch him.

I did the same thing- I had to get out for my own sanity.

I don't know how true this is...BF'ing does not guarantee the baby will not get sick..all my cousins are breastfed and have had colds since early on. All babies immune systems are compromised from day one and take time to build...breastfed or formula fed.

With that being said though...I was out on the town with DS since he was a few days old and hasn't been sick once and is formula fed (if that means anything). Just wash your hands a lot, don't let too many strangers pass her around!

Re: 2 weeks old question

I brought her into stores at 2 weeks old. It's good for the both of you to get out,.

Just make sure people wash their hands before touching her. And you are the mommy you have every right to say no, no one can hold her or please dont' touch her hands or face.

I have gone as far as putting the insect netting on her carrier so no one can touch her with their grimy hands in stores.
