Updated again, we're home...Very upsetting news, I won't be on this board...My Update at bottom of original post
I have stopped crying for a little while now, and came on the computer to research things. We went for our 20 week appointment today, and we received horrible and devastating news.
Our baby has developed all of its organs properly, and is living and kicking, except the brain never formed properly. There was no way for them to know this until now, because all my other tests and sonograms came back perfect. There is a 1 in 2000 chance this happens to women, and I am that 1. There was nothing we could do, and it is not hereditary. They do not even know why this occurs at all.
The options we are faced with now are to end the pregnancy at 20 weeks, or bring the baby to full term, however the baby will not live past birth because it will not have a brain. We are seeing a specialist tomorrow to get a second opinion.
Our famiies, DH and I are so unbelievably upset, especially because I can still feel this precious little baby kicking inside of me.
Please just send your prayers our way, this is the worst thing that has ever happened to us, and we are beside ourselves with anger and sadness at the same time.

UPDATE:
Hello to everyone. You have truly overwhelmed DH and I, as I came on to get everything in order for myself. I am truly touched by each and every one of your FM's and posts, you have no idea. We do feel all of your thoughts and prayers.
We did go for the second opinion today, for a total of 7 doctors looking at another sonogram today. The same results were shown to us. The doctor spent 1 hour with us answering all of our questions.
We were told that if I do bring the baby to term, it could harm my life. IF the baby was born at 40 weeks, it would either not survive the stress of birth, or pass away within hours. It has only a small amount of brain at the stem of the spinal cord. I was told that for my health, the best thing would be to end the pregnancy. My husband, and my parents were with me, and agreed with me that this is the best decision, and my health is the most important.
We have chosen to give birth to the baby tomorrow morning, and then let nature and God take over. I could not bear to do the option of the D&E for my own mental state. Right now I feel as though I am the worst mommy in the world because I could not protect my child. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but at the same time, wish that I wasn't the one that it happened to.
I have cried all my tears, there are no more left. Please have your husbands kiss your growing bellies, and hug and kiss your beautiful children a little harder tonight. I cannot wait to have a healthy baby one day, and I hope that I can still consider myself a mommy.
Thank you again for all of your support, I will be back next week while I take some time off. You girls are my 'therapists'. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

UPDATE #2
We are home again, without our little baby, but we are doing better, and starting to think about the future and when we will try again to have another little miracle.
We went into the hospital Saturday morning, where I received treatments every four hours to weaken the cervix to start labor. Around 12:20 I was 1 cm dialated and could not bear the cramps, so I received some pain medication. At around 3:15 am, I asked for more pain medication because I felt the contractions again, and at 3:40ish, I woke in tremendous pain and my water broke. At about 3:45 am, our little baby boy was born, was able to take two short breaths and passed away.
The baby was diagnosed correctly, and the baby would have never been able to survive after a full term birth. My little boy had all 10 fingers, all 10 toes, and looked like an angel. I got to hold him for a long time and told him so many times that his mommy and daddy loved him, and would one day get to know him in heaven.
Our family did get to hold their grandson, and nephew. I feel an overwhelming sense of calmness today, knowing that this baby was sent to us for a reason, and that we made the right decision to not let him suffer.
Thank you again for every single one of your FM's and posts, you have truly touched our family.
