Yorkie or Pomeranian
Hi, my SILs mom is about to put her pug who is in a lot of pain and old to sleep. She desperately needs another dog and wants either a yorkie or a pomeranian--- I'm leaning more towards a yorkie because of the shedding. She takes care of her mom (my SILS gma) who is much older and I think the less extra work the better. She waited in line for over 4 hours before NSAL opened the other day, after going earlier in the week to get preapproval, only to find that all of the dogs had been adopted by the time she was allowed in (she was like 130something in line!!!) I'm trying to help her and didn't know if anyone knew where she could adopt either type of dog from, on LI or at least in NY, NJ or CT. I know she'd be willing to travel to get them. She's looking for a puppy, or a younger dog. Please let me know if you have any leads as my SIL and brother were hoping to find her one before Christmas to surprise her (if not before thanksgiving!) TIA!

And if you don't want to purchase from a breeder, try petfinder.com. They have yorkies on there that need adoption.

We don't have a dog (Dh is still on the fence aobut it) but a yorkie is on my list. I look on petfinder.com all the time, hoping Dh will get the hint.

Re: Yorkie or Pomeranian
I am the proud owner of a Pomeranian.....absolutely love her...probably the best dog we ever had. She has a great disposition, very friendly, great with the neighbors kids who come over to play with her, doesn't shed a lot, never had any problems with her whatsoever (knock on wood). She is the most spoiled dog....definitely a lap dog, but then again we made her that way. We got her from a Pet Store five years ago. They are no longer in business. Just a couple of weeks ago we saw the cutest Poms at Parrots of the World.....very small puppies......they were adorable. I think they were going for close to $2000 if I'm not mistaken. My grandparents have a Yorkie and he's a great dog too....though I wouldn't trade my Pom for the world. If you have any questions regarding them, feel free to FM me. I'd be glad to help Good luck making your decision!!

Re: Yorkie or Pomeranian
I have a pomeranian and i definately reccommend a Yorkie. When i was managing the pet store in the mall a security guard found this Pomeranina roaming the mall and brough her to me. I brought her home and we tried to find her owners but no luck. So after a few months we kept her and when i moved out my parents kept her. She is a ver high maintnance dog. wants 100% attenetion on her at all times. If she doesn't get it she just barks and barks and barks. I love her but i definately don't like her.
