24 week appt and a GOOD REPORT!

FINALLLLLY, for the first time ever - all looks good! NO issues whatsoever! I even gained weight for the first time! The scale put me at +4.5lbs fully clothed (and after dinner), so now my total weight change is 17-18lbs less than my pre-pg weight.

Blood is good, urine is good, blood pressure is a happy 120/80.

The Dr was thrilled to hear that my morning hurl sessions are no longer solids, but mostly liquid. He said that's usually a sign of it slowing down! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Let's hope he's right.

I was informed that at this point in time, baby is likely over a foot long and weighs over a pound and a half. (plus another 2 pounds in amniotic fluid, and at least a pound in placenta!) Our baby has been measuring big all along, so he may even be bigger than that! It's so strange that something the size of a poppy seed is now BABY sized. Chat Icon

I seem to have "appointment buddies" - the same group of 3 or 4 of us usually have appts at the same time each month and it's so cute to see each of them getting bigger. I feel HUGE and I'm the smallest out of all of them so far! They told me I wasn't feeding baby enough cupcakes. hahaha Chat Icon

Next appt is in 4 wks for the glucose test - my Dr does it right in the office. And good news - it's FRUIT PUNCH, not orange! Chat Icon

Re: 24 week appt and a GOOD REPORT!

Dr also told me to check out American Pregnancy for weight gain information:

I found this:

Where does all the extra weight go?

Here is an approximate breakdown of your weight gain:

Baby: 7-8 pounds
Placenta: 1-2 pounds
Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
Uterus: 2 pounds
Maternal breast tissue: 2 pounds
Maternal blood : 4 pounds
Fluids in maternal tissue: 4 pounds
Maternal fat and nutrient stores: 7 pounds

How much total weight should I gain?

The amount of weight you should gain depends on your weight before pregnancy. You should gain:

*25-37 pounds if you were a healthy weight before pregnancy.

*28-40 pounds if you were underweight before pregnancy.

*15-25 pounds if you were overweight before pregnancy.

At what rate should I gain weight during my pregnancy?
How much you should gain depends on your weight before you were pregnant and how far along you are in your pregnancy.

Healthy weight before pregnancy:
* 3-5 pounds during the first trimester
*Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the second trimester
*Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the third trimester

Underweight before pregnancy:
*5-6 pounds or more in your first trimester; this also can depend on how underweight you were before pregnancy & your health care provider's recommendations
*1-2 pounds per week in the second and third trimesters

Overweight before pregnancy:
*Approximately 1-2 pounds in the first trimester
*Approximately 1 pound per week during the last six months

Throughout your pregnancy the goal is to keep weight gain as steady as possible because your baby requires a daily supply of nutrients that comes from what you eat. It is ok for your weight gain to fluctuate a little from week to week. However, you should contact your health care provider if you suddenly gain or lose weight, especially in your third trimester. This could be a sign of preeclampsia.

YAY!! All great news Nic!!!!

Fruit punch sounds good!!! I actually had a choice of the orange or lemon-lime and picked the lemon-lime just because of how everyone complains about the orange!!! Chat Icon
