2.5 jars a day?? Is this a marketing ploy??

How many jars of fruit/veggies does your 7 months old eats a day?? I just got some literature from Gerbers that said they should be eating 2.5 jars a day!! I couldn't believe it!!

My daughter eats maybe half a jar a day, sometimes I add some cereal when she is in the mood to eat more. I usually give it to her at night during dinner.

There is no way she would eat 2.5 jars.

I am starting to give her a half a jar of fruit in the morning but still it would only amount to 1 jar a day.

I can't remember how much my son was eating at this age. Can you guys tell me how much your baby eats?Chat Icon

my dd just started her 3rd meal a day (at lunch) - she's 6 1/2 months old. She eats 1/2 jar fruit for breakfast with cereal a full jar at lunch (either veggie or fruit) and a full jar at dinner (veggies or meat/veggie combo). She also gets 32 oz of formula a day.

DS is 6 months old and he eats almost
2 jars of veggies, and 1or 2 jars of fruits.

so that sounds about right. At our 6 month well visit my I asked my ped how much baby food he should be eating, he said to go by what DS wants, he will let me know when he is full. And he does, he will not open his mouth when he is full a,d get mad and grunt if I stop feeding him before he is full.

I make my DS's food and he eats a portion that is the size of an ice cube each day-- although some days he doesn't eat the whole thing. So 2.5 jars would DEFINTELY be too much for him at this point.

every day is a bit different b/c i try to change foods on him (he gets used to a food easily and only wants that food). so some days he likes the foods more than others and he'll eat more or less depending.

he gets a meal in the late moring: 1/2-1 jars with 2-3 tablespoons cereal mixed in.

dinner: 1/2-1 jar veggie and 1/2 jar meat mixed in.
