2.5 year old pushing back his bedtime...
is it just time and i have to accept this? he normally goes to bed at 6:45-7 the latest and wakes up at 6:30. this whole week he's been going to bed 7:30-8pm. He's not acting tired until right before he goes to bed. But he's fighting me harder lately.
And he stalls!! OMG...this kid is stubborn. "mommy...that's a step!" "mommy...read me 10 more books" "mommy...can i have milk" "mommy...i have to go potty". he'll think of anything not to go to bed. then once i get him into bed he wants to be rocked.
now that i live with my parents, my mom is giving me guilt about CIO...even tho i successfully did it at 13 months. like last night i let him cry for 5 minutes and my mom told me to go in cause SHE couldn't handle it anymore. and he just wanted his elmo book. so i gave it to him and in 2 minutes he went to bed.
so this turned into a vent. but is it normal to push back bedtime around this age. i get as he gets older he'll go to bed later, but i dont know if thats whats happening now.

Re: 2.5 year old pushing back his bedtime...
DS has been pushing back his bedtime as well - he goes to bed around 8 usually but, it's been closer to 9 or so as of late.
The things he asks for - more water, a clean diaper, etc... The other day he was singing and dancing.
I feel you about the CIO - it's hard to do it when those you stay with don't agree with it. We lived with ILs last year for awhile and I didn't do it because I didn't want to get hit twice as hard with guilt. We need to do it again but, it seems that every time I'm ready to, he's extremely congested (there's maybe one day each week this winter that he doesn't have a runny/stuffy nose or cough and I say we'll start tomorrow and he comes home congested again!!!)
I'm thinking he's starting to not need as much sleep - he'll only go down around 8pm now if he skips his nap or takes a short nap....

OMG, YES! My perfect sleeper is gone
I used to put him in at 7PM, he'd play a bit then go to sleep Now he's so awake at 7 and wants to play, stall, and anything not to go to bed.
Last night he went around 8:30 - 9PM.
I had to stay in his room till he went to sleep too. He used to love his alone time.

Re: 2.5 year old pushing back his bedtime...
Based on what's going on around here, I'm thinking it's normal.
Joshua used to be in bed and asleep by 8 at the very latest. Now, if his nap runs late (3:30), he's not asleep until 9 and so we have to push back bedtime to 8:30. We kept trying 8 even when he napped late but it just resulted in his being awake for an hour.
I have found that he goes to bed and falls asleep quickly (15 mins) about 5.5 hrs after he wakes from his nap. I'm trying to limit his nap so that it just runs until 3 which puts us at 8:30. I remember the days when he was asleep at 7. Miss those sometimes.

Re: 2.5 year old pushing back his bedtime...
We're going through the same thing with James over here. On most weeknights, he's in bed between 7-7:15 and he s t a l l s soooooo much! Potty, books, brushing teeth, he is so tired, but fights it for all he's worth. We wake him up around 6:15 during the week so I *know* he's shot by 7pm. On the weekends, we keep him up later so that maybe - juuuuuust maybe - he'll sleep later in the mornings Saturday and Sunday. On the weekends, he's not typically ready for bed until 8:30-9:00. I think if it was up to him, he'd stay up until 9 every night.
