2.5 yr old---travel sleeping arrangements..
DS is almost 2.5, still sleeps in his crib no problem, slept in his pack&play over night in April. It is now June, do you think I should still sleep him in the pack&play (it will be for almost a week) or try bed rails. He has never slept in a bed and I don't plan to put him in a bed until later this summer unless he climbs out of his crib. He looks so big in the pack and play but seemed to sleep okay in April

I would stick to the PNP if he did it in April.

Re: 2.5 yr old---travel sleeping arrangements..
DD is younger than your DS but very tall and she looked very uncomfortable sleeping in the PNP on our last trip away. I read a lot of reviews and ended up getting something called the KidCo Peapod travel bed. It kind of looks like a cross between a tent and an air mattress. We haven't tried it out yet but it gets good reviews.

Where are you going? If he wasn't in the PNP, where would he be? Is he in daycare - where does he sleep there?
I've seen travel cots for daycare, travel. Not sure how much traveling you do/cost but its another option.

We will be in a hotel and since we are flying, I don't want to bring any other sort of travel bed for him. I have the option of a pack & play or bed rails for a double size bed in hotel room. He rarely goes to daycare (only if I have an emergency or when I had minor surgery) and he slept on a cot there, but that's it.

DD still did okay in the PNP at that age-I think it will be fine.

Based on where you are staying I would kind of see what works best for you. You have a few options - you just call housekeeping and they can bring you whatever you need. You can request a pack n play and if your DC doesn't like it - just pick up the phone and request bed rails (You can also get a wooden high chair for the room from housekeeping).
For bed rails you can either use the day bed OR you can use the rails on the regular bed. This trip DD refused to sleep on the day bed so we put the rails up on one of the two regular beds in the room (queens) and she insisted DH or I sleep with her so we switched off depending one who she wanted - and one night she slept with the rails alone in her bed. There would be room for 2 pack n plays in the room (they also btw have metal cribs - I have a picture of them if you are interested - b.c on our last trip my parents came and we had adjoining rooms so we asked for one crib and one pack n play so she could nap or sleep in either room and the one she slept in best was put in our room -(she preferred the pack n play).
Etd to add - I'm know DD is a bit behind - she will be 3 on father's day - but she is ALL over the place when she sleeps - even on the beds down at the poly - she was ALL over - BUT she never tries to climb out of the crib and actually likes it so we haven't transitioned her yet. She did fine on the bed and had no problems going back to the crib when we came home.
