This just made me cry - My Birth Story

I can't believe I wrote this 8 months ago!

Well, first off let me say that it feels sooooo good to be home and I want to thank you all for your good thoughts throughtout the last couple of weeks

As you know we were scheduled to be induced on Wednesday 6/27. We were admitted into Winthrop and right away they started the Cervadil - at this point I was still a fingertip dialated. I am not going to lie - when they inserted the Cervadil that was the most painful thing ever! The Cervadil started to bring on contractions and some of them were very painful. It was a LONG 13 hours and I was really starting to lose my mind. I had already decided at that point that if I was still not dialated I was going to ask for a csection. His tush was basically protruding outside of my body and it was awful with every contraction.

This was also the night of the power outage so Winthrop lost power for a few seconds (nice right?!) and had to go on a backup generator. BC we were on a generator - they couldn't turn on the AC. I was dying.

After the 13 hours were up they came in, took out the Cervadil, and checked me. I was still a fingertip dialated. They wanted to do the Cervadil for another 12 hours. I said NO WAY and I wanted a c section now. In my mind, I was almost two weeks late, my water did not break, I wasn't dialated at all, and I truly believed it would end in a csection anyway.

Dr. Dolisi wanted me to wait until Dr. Hanauer was on the next morning. He told me I didn't have to do the Cervadil but that she wanted to deliver my baby. I said no offense- but there is no shot in hell I am waiting - I want him out NOW!

He said fine and that we would have to wait for a csection to end at around 1am. A little while later he comes back and says that we need to wait until the AC comes on bc the OR was 89 degrees. So, we wait a few hours - it seemed like FOREVER, I was scared as hell. Having so many second thoughts....should I do the Cervadil again?? Am I making the right decision?? I was just freaking out. I calmed myself down and realized that I just wanted my baby here now, his heartrate was great and I knew he was safe - I didn't want to wait any longer.

At about 2:15 they started to prep me for surgery. The anestiesiologist (SP) was amazing. He explained the spinal to me and exactly what they would be doing. I have to say - the spinal was NOTHING. It was over in 5 seconds flat and right away I became completely numb. It was such a surreal feeling. From this point on it was almost like an out of body experience. I was watching what was going on - but it didn't feel like it was happening to me.

They brought my DH in and he sat by my head. The Anestiesioligist was so great and talked to me the entire time. I would make him give me percentages of how much was left in the surgery. They got Jack out in about the first 10 minutes - they said I would feel pressure (which I did) but it was the most amazing thing when I felt him out of my body and heard him cry for the first time. So amazing. The first thing Dr. Dolisi says was "WOW - this kid is SOLID" -- They bring him over to clean him up and they tell me that he is 9lbs 14ozs. I could not believe it! He was a litle monster. Dr. Dolisi said that I prob. never would have been able to deliver him vaginally so that I made a good call with the section.

The rest of the surgery was great. They closed me up and I didn't feel a thing. I will def. opt for another section in the future. For anyone who may need one - I have to tell you - I had an amazing experience.

Jack is the most amazing little boy. He hasn't cried in two days and has such an easy going personality. I hope it stays this way but we'll see. It's unbelievable to know that the second you look at him you will never love anything more. It's so crazy how much I love him and it's the best thing in the world. My husband has been amazing throughout this whole thing also. The first few days of recovery were rough so he really had to do everything for Jack. Everyday gets a little easier though thank god.

I will post pics right now - just trying to sort through all 200 of them!

Sooo here is
Jack Thomas
9 lbs 14 ozs; 23 inches long.

Awww-Jack is so cute. Is he still an easygoing little guy? Mine was the first few days, but is not so much now!

Sorry to hear you had to make a tough decision, but it sounds like it was the right one.

The first two months I thought being a mom was the easiest thing ever -- then he turned 2 months and completely changed. He became VERY high maintenance. I would say months 2-4 were rough - and it's been so amazing since then.

He is happy 24/7 now. The best little boy ever!
