How did you choose your Pediatrician?

Did your OBGYN refer you to someone?

Did you randomly choose a Pediatrician and then interview them?

Do you do the interview in person or on the phone?

What questions do you ask? Does anyone have a list of questions?

I'm in Queens -- I only know of Queens Pediatrics in Howard Beach (I went there as a child). How are they now? -- Does anyone know?

Is there a website where we can research Pediatricians?

I wanted to, but it never happened like that...

Once I gave birth, the doctors that saw DD in the hospital were the ones I chose. I am very happy with them, so I am glad it worked out well.

I used my old pediatrician. I turned out OK, seems he can be trusted.

I got a recommendation from a friend.

I got some recs from friends, and when I called the dr I was pretty much set on, the receptionist said that parents usually come in on sat. mornings to meet the dr. We made an appointment and saw the dr. this past weekend. Most of the questions I had in mind were covered in our discussion. The dr. and staff were great!

My accountant (of all people) referred us to her pediatric group. I called them and they invited me in for a consultation, which I went to last week. I met with one of the doctors who gave me the rundown and answered my questions. I felt very comfortable with her so we've decided to go with them.

Recommendations. I received 5 or 6 for the same pediatrician, so I feel pretty comfortable. I also visited the office and asked the staff some questions (this pediatrician does not do interviews).

i used to work for a pediatrician for 3yrs.. he is great!! .. located in hunt.. i will definetly be using him!!

My OB's website has a few recommendations. I also asked friends. One of my friend's pediatricians is also referred by my OB so I set up an appt with her. We are going in person next week to meet her and ask questions.

I went with who the OBGYN recommended for the hospital and then took it from there. I liked them a lot so we stayed with them.

My step-daughter recommended actually insisted I meet her doctor...so her mom made an appointment for my step-daughter's annual and I went in with her...loved him.

I am using the same one my sister uses for my Nephew. She loves her.

Recommendations. I received a few one from my OB and then a few for a different pediatrician from others. DH's co-worker is not fond of the one my OB recommended and her reasons were also things that DH would have a problem with so we checked out the other one, visited the office and asked the staff some questions (this pediatrician does not do interviews). We were both pleased, so we are going with them.

I chose my pediatrician through a recommendation of a family friend who is head of Peds at Montefiore. He gave me three names and I called around to find out which one was close by and who took my insurance. I narrowed it down to the one person who fit both my criteria. I did not interview the doctor, but I figure if I do not feel comfortable at the first visit, I will search for someone else.
