27 weeks and lack of movement
I'm 27 weeks and haven't really felt my baby move much today. I really don't want to worry about this, but then lo and behold, I go and read this at babycenter.com.
Symptoms you should never ignore: Decrease in fetal movement. (As a general rule, if you feel fewer than ten movements in two hours at 26 weeks or later, call your practitioner immediately.)
My gut tells me there's nothing to really worry about (I have had NO other indications all along that anything would be wrong) but I can't help but worry a bit. I am seeing my doctor on Thursday ... do you think I need to call, or just wait and see what Thursday brings?

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
You may have just been really really busy and have been rocking the baby to sleep...
Lay down on your left side..have a big glass of orange juice..and see what happens..
This is probably what the doctor will tell you to do when you call..So at least you have covered this base before you call...
I personally call the doctor NO MATTER WHAT...I dont care if Im being paranoid or not...

I completely agree. Def try the orange juice.
Last week, I was 30 weeks, and didnt feel the baby alot for hours . I drank orange juice, and it still wasnt much. I called my dr, went in and minutes after I was there, the baby was kicking. But I didnt care. It made me feel better to call.

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
did you poke ? I poke around a lot.
It could be just a lazy baby. I go hours without movement sometimes a lot...and then followed by lots of movement.
a trick I saw today in the drs office was to chew gum. They were having a girl there do that to get the baby moving and putting ice cubes on her belly!

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
I poke and that works. And my kid is LAZY.
If OJ doesn't work, drink soda if you want.....I am sure everything is fine and she is just snoozing away in there

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
what I do sometimes is lay on my left side and put my arm across the stomach... I guess my arm is heavy and it takes the space away from him and he starts kicking my arm...

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
I find that actually food works better than oj - eat something with a lot of protein in it - usually a bagel with peanut butter gets the kid moving like crazy!!!

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
shake a can of pennies on your belly - my doctor did that one day when I had a non-stress test and there was no movement going on - woke my poor kid up fast and boy was their kicks. I felt bad but it worked! (I was a little further along at that time - not sure if that makes a difference.)

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
My kid is moving all day long - and that could be because I eat all day long. LOL.
But seriously, I find that after I eat, drink alot, or have something sweet he is all over the place. If all that fails then drink some soda - that will get them moving.
I'm sure everything is fine though - the baby was probably just sleepy!

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
I read something about that. Movement will not always be the same as you go toward 3rd trimester and it's normal.
If you are really worried, call the Dr.

Re: 27 weeks and lack of movement
Thanks everyone! I put a call into my doctor today but haven't heard back yet. I have felt a FEW movements, just not a whole lot. I've eaten a TON (that's never a problem ) but that never seems to get my baby moving. Since I have my regular appt tomorrow, I guess I'll just bring it up then. In the meantime, I think I'll go get a can of pennies and see if that works.
