2nd Appointment Today- Update...with a question
I have my 2nd appointment today.
I'm so excited (and a little nervous). We saw the heartbeat last time do you think we will be able to hear it yet? I'm 8 1/2 weeks
Update:
They basically just did an internal...WOW the baby got sooo much bigger than last time. Saw the heartbeat, but we didn't get to hear it. I have to go back in 4 weeks for a nuc transparency (they said to check the baby's spine) and to take blood from my finger. Never heard of this...can you girls explain? I kind of want to avoid tests that aren't necessary.

Good luck to you!!! I was able to hear the heart beat at 7 weeks with the internal ultrasound!!

The NT scan at your next appt is just a reg internal sono, but usually a special tech does it to measure the spine at the neck to see the thickness... if it measures normal that is great, I believe if it is too thick there is a chance of downs... then they take blood and they give you a % of your chances of downs...
It is a normal Internal sono, so I don't think this is anything that you should eliminate for trying to reduce test. This is a test that they do to see if you should do a CVS or an amino...
