2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
I feel like I am wasting my time with these IUI's. I read that couples with unexplained infertility only have about an 8-12% greater chance to get pregnant with IUI. I am doing all of this for 8% Really!!! REALLY!!!??
Dr. B suggests doing 3, GHI would like me to do 4 IUIs before they approve me for IVF. Mind you, we already have been trying for nearly 2 years. Plus I am out this month because of a vacation (pre planned) I feel like this is just never going to happen for us. I am SO frustrated, and defeated
Dr. says I responded well to femars, but at the time of the IUI I only had 1 or 2 mature follies and a bunch of little ones, do you think they will move me on to injectibles at this point, or is that no use since I O on my own and respond to femara?
Would you ask to move on to injectibles? I just feel like we should do SOMETHING different.

I'm so sorry this round didn't work I think our 2nd round is going to be a bust too. You said that GHI 'would like' you to do 4 rounds of IUI, is that mandatory before moving to IVF? I don't have any experience with any of the meds yet since we've only had two rounds of unmedicated IUIs, but I just wanted to offer some

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
I'm sorry! Why can't this process be EASIER!!!!
Don't give up yet. I know it's hard not to feel defeated, but you are under the best care with Dr B. I am sure he will come up with a plan for next cycle.
That sucks that insurance companyies set a requirement for IUI's before moving onto IVF.
Try to enjoy your vacation coming up!!! At least that will be something fun to look forward to. I hope you have a great time!!

I'm so sorry.. I would ask about seeing if you can add injectables to you cycle.. I know about those 4 iui's to get approved.. My ins doesnt pay for any of ivf but to get a grant i had to do 4. i hope your stay is very short.

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
I agree with adding injectables to you cycle for another IUI. Then if that doesn't work go to IVF. This is a marathon not a sprint I am learning.
I'm doing this for two years and I've done 2 IVF cycles that were a bust that didn't even get to ER, one Clomid IUI for testing purposes and most recently IVF that was a bust.
This stuff takes too much time but hopefully in the end it all works out and it's worth it.

I agree, I'd move onto injectibles. You'll be dealing with a greater amount of mature eggs so hopefully that'll increase your chances. Enjoy your vacay!

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
My only question with the injectables is.. isn't the point of them to help you produce mature follies? If the femara is doing that for you, then I feel like there won't be much of a point in injectables That's just what I *think* though.. obviously not a dr.......
I didn't respond well to Femara alone so I use injectables too. If it's something you're curious about you can always ask Dr.B and see what he says..... I'm sure he will come up with something that will work for you!!! He's great!!!

That's my question, will he put me on injectibles when i already O and create follies on my own. Does it even make sense to start shooting myself up? Will that really improve my chances? Of course i will ask Dr. B. but you ladies seem to know just as much as the docs so i wanted to see if anyone here has been in my boat. You make follies on your own, O on your own but they have put you on injectibles anyhow??
Thank you so much for reading my vents, i appreciate everyone who reads and responds to my dribbles Hugs and baby dust to everyone here

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
i think you missed something... on your own you are only producing 1-2 follies.. that is normal... with injectables you are going to produce more follies than that.. 1-2 follies are nice but you dont know if they contain an egg.. sometimes they dont or if that egg is also mature enough to fertilize... I say try the one iui with some heavier meds. i always o'ed on my own and produced a good follie every month also.. However, DH has bad sperm, and it wasnt until ivf and a failed water sono that it was found my uterine wall was lined with 4 large polyps that needed to be removed...
has your DH been checked out? have you had a hsg recently?
I asked my re about a hsg after my 3rd failed iui.. he said since i had one 8 years ago, i didnt need it.. well when it came to the ivf water sono.. he couldnt see anything and guess what i needed a hsg... problem found...
good luck to you

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
I did have an HSG, my tubes were not blocked. I never had a water sono or a lap, are those tests i should request at this point ? DH semen had a SA done over a year ago and was fine, and for both IUIs (recently) we had great numbers.
Why is he saying i responded "great" to the femara, when i only had 1 mature follie this time and 2 last time. I did have a few smaller ones both times (12mm-15mm)

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
Maybe that is all Femera is suppose to produce.. my re says anything over 16mm is considered good for a natural cycle but likes them over 18 when meds are added... hope this helps.

Re: 2nd IUI a bust..ARGHHHHHHH
HSG is better than a water sono.. I dont know what the time frame is for SA.. My Dh's started in August and he they did a partial every time i had an iui done... this way we had an idea of his numbers.. as you can tell he doesnt have good swimmers.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. I would talk to the dr and say you want to me be more aggressive, maybe they can injectables? We will get through this!
