2nd m/c
Hi everyone,
I used to post here when I was trying for DD#1, but that was years ago. I have PCOS-like symptoms (really erratic cycles, sometimes 80 days long with no ovulation, but none of the other traits that usually go with it) and needed Clomid and an IUI to get pg the first time because I ovulate like 3 times a year.
My cycles have been more regular since having DD and we decided to try on our own for 6 months before going back to the RE. In August I ovulated on CD 35 and got pg, but lost the pregnancy at 5w. And just this month I ovulated on CD 18 (a miracle!), got pg, and just started to miscarry today.
So I'm wondering: - When you have PCOS your hormones are all messed up, right? I'd assumed that would just make it harder for me to conceive, but I'm thinking it also makes it harder to keep a pregnancy.
- My progesterone was only a 4. That's crazy low, right, even for a m/c?
- Last time, I took Clomid and my Beta/Progesterone were super strong with the pregnancy. So does Clomid somehow give you a "stronger" ovulation, which helps you keep the pregnancy?
Sorry if I'm rambling; my mind is all over the place and I'm totally drained and exhausted. I really thought that since I weirdly O'ed on CD 18 like a normal person, my body was temporarily "normal" and this pregnancy would be ok.

Dava I'm so sorry for your losses. Your #s seem on the low end. Which RE are you seeing? Are they being proactive with you? Wwere you on anything other than clomid? If your progesterone was so low I'm surprised they didn't give you suppositories or something.
Maybe its time to get a second opinion.

Re: 2nd m/c
I'm so sorry you're going through this!
I can't comment on the PCOS part, but Clomid does make you ovulate "stronger" in some cases, which may increase your progesterone. It doesn't necessarily increase your chances of staying pregnant, though. If you have low progesterone, it's usually a sign of weak ovulation. In turn, low progesterone will not support a healthy pregnancy, and so you may need supplements.
Are you seeing an RE now? If you had 2 m/c I'd recommend getting closely monitored. Clearly you are capable of getting pg, but hopefully an RE will help you to stay pregnant.

Same here maybe they can do much more detailed testing.

Re: 2nd m/c
Thanks for the replies! Sorry if my post was confusing.
I went to RSoNY to get pg with DD#1.
Now, 2 and a half years later, we're trying on our own. I haven't been back to the RE because I've been ovulating on my own more often and was hoping we'd get lucky. I'm going to make an appointment to start up with them again, but it won't be until January and I'm feeling sad and confused and looking for some advice/answers now.

Re: 2nd m/c
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have PCOS and needed Gonal to get follies mature enough to O. I too just had a second mc. My p level this last time was a 5... Way too low.
Are you on metformin? Progesterone suppositories?
I'm currently going through testing - recurrent loss panel to see if their are underlying issues aside from PCOS.
Fm if you want!!

Re: 2nd m/c
Thank you. I've been lurking on this board since my first m/c and I remember your story. I'm sorry for your losses.
I'm not on Metformin because my blood work came back normal 3 years ago. I didn't have insulin resistance, didn't have a surplus of testosterone, I'm not overweight, don't have excess body hair, etc., etc. I just have mostly anovulatory cycles and I have positive OPKs over and over and over within a cycle as my body gears up to ovulate but doesn't get there. Also no progesterone suppositories because I'm not under the care of an RE yet. I wanted so badly to do it myself this time and not have to do all the testing, the early-morning trips to the office, and so on. Guess that's not possible.
Good luck to you and I hope you find answers soon.

You can take metformin to regulate your cycles as well. Ask your RE about it when you go back.
Sorry you have to go back to RE. Thankfully it is an option though! If we had no hope, IF life would be hell - so don't be down on yourself!
