2nd pregnancy ?

We are TTC, but I was wondering if you have to go through the same procedures like you did with the 1st pregnancy? Do you have to go for the same blood work, and the same tests?

I hate giving blood and for my pregnancy with Julia I had to give 6 vials of blood, and I ended up passing out after and got so scared. I don't mind giving 2 or 3 but 6 is a lot!

I'm going to talk to my OB about it, but was just wondering what others had to do....TIA!

we are also trying ttc again in this winter im sure that everything we just did our 1st we will be doing again i also gave 6 vials and passed out but hey look what we have after

yes if anything this time around I had more because I failed the 1 hour test so I had to go for the dreaded 3 hour test

I had all the same tests. That first blood draw the "ob panel" is the one with the most vials- like 6 or 7. At least its over with in the beginning. I also had extra draws because of quest lab losing my blood TWICE and me failing my one hour. I felt like a pin cushion this time around.

I have gone through the exact same tests this time as I did with my first pregnancy. The only thing I didn't have to go through was internals since I am having a scheduled c-section this time around, but other than that, its all the same. I feel like the bloodwork never ends though.

Because I got pregnant so soon after my first, my doctor did not repeat all of my blood work.

I think it will depend on your doctor.

- I normally don't care about giving blood, but even for me that first visit with all the vials is alot.

I had my first in 2004 and my 2nd in 2006. I had all the same stuff with my second and even had more tests, like the ultracreen that was not available when I had my first.

I told them I didn't want the genetic screening panel, so I had a lot less blood taken, maybe 2-3 vials.

YEs I took nearly all the same tests second time around

i took the same tests, like the ultrascreen but I didn't have to do all the other genetic testing I had originally done... but I am Eastern European/Jewish so I know they do different tests if you are from that background...

I had my son at 33 and now my second at 38 so things were a little different, such as the amino and other decisions but forthe most part it is the same.

They actually did more tests on #2 since there was almost a 5 year time span. They seem to have so many more tests than they did in '02.

6 vials I would have passed out too. I think the most they ever took was 3-4 and I was fine.

My doctor said you can, because once you have been tested and are not a carrier there is no need to repeat the tests.

same tests plus the ultrascreen
they took 8 vials both times for me though
