2nd thoughts about job
I just need to vent. I was unemployed for about 5months. I finally got a job and I thought I would enjoy it since it was something that I've never done before. A month and half into the job and I do not like it and it's definitely not for me. Now I feel like I'm stuck once again trying to further my career. Just needed to vent since I feel so frustrated with my career. I grad with my masters 6yrs ago and I'm still trying to find the right job for me.

Re: 2nd thoughts about job
I had a hard time with my job situation for the past two years (I got my master's 4 years ago in education) and felt that stuck feeling with a couple of jobs that I took just because it was a paycheck. Remember, this job is not forever. Just keep sending out those resumes and see if another opportunity presents itself. I love Indeed.com because I can type in something like "education" and it gives me jobs I wouldn't have thought of in that area.
Hang in there!

Re: 2nd thoughts about job
I agree with the PP.
We recently hired someone who was in your shoes. I knew when we hired her that the position was not for her after a couple of weeks. I think she stayed the summer before her "dream" job ended up calling her.
Also on days when I feel frustrated with my job, I remind myself of all the perks and I know this sounds cliche, but of the many people out of work right now who would love to have my role ;).
Also remember too that it often takes 6 months-a year to really start to feel comfortable at a new job. Not saying that is what is going on with you, but it's great advice I've always been given and found to be true for many.

Re: 2nd thoughts about job
Thanks for the support. I know it's not forever but I feel like I say that with jobs I've had in the past. However, I will have a positive attitude since I know that being unemployed is 10x more stressful. I just hope that 2012 I will find the job that I have been wanting since 2005.

Re: 2nd thoughts about job UPDATE (double annoyed)
So this job has become more annoying and unstructured. I'm hired as a full-time employee however long story short when I was hired they told me that btwn 12/16-12/31 I would have vacation time (policy change). After questioning them about it again they then told me I had to have time accurred. So on 12/16 I receive a phone call stating that I do have off and if I could contact my clients and tell them that I have a family emergency for 2wks. Obviously that was not going to work so they said they would take care of it. Last week I receive an email stating not to contact my clients once I return to work.
Return to the office and was informed that my clients wanted me off the case b/c I did not show ethusiasm w/ their children. I find it rather coincidental that I'm off the case after not being there for 2wks. So now the director said that if another client has the same feedback then I will have to be a per-diem worker instead of full-time.
The clients (parents) have too high of expectation for thier children and I was the 4th and 3rd therapist assigned to the cases b/c the other therapists did not work out.
Anyway long vent.. annoyed.. so I'm looking for another job as we speak though it took me 5months to find one after being unemployed. SO RIDICULOUS!!!!

Re: 2nd thoughts about job
I don't work with kids, but I do work with adults and their family members who can be difficult with nonsensical expectations at times (often due to their own displaced anger over their situation). While sometimes there are staff who are a problem, or a personality issue, for the most part, the admins are aware of difficult cases who will find fault with everyone.
If they don't have your back, I would definitely look elsewhere.
It's stressful enough working in any human services related position, not to have this crap of your job being threatened on top of it.
