2nd thoughts about our ped.
Luka had his first visit at 5 days old but I ont feel comfortable with the Dr. and want to switch, should I wait until his one month visit which is next fri? She didnt interact with him and I had some minor concerns like him sounding a little conjested even when we were at the hospital but she said he was fine but he still sounds congested sometimes. When he gets excited or cries it seems like he forgets to take a breath and then it sounds like he will choke, she also didnt seem concerned about this and didnt give me an anwser why he was doing this. She also gave me 2 RTF bottles of formula when she knew I wanted to EBF, which bothered me aswell. What would you guys do and do you think i am just being paranoid b/c he is my first also how do i tell her i dont want to use her anymore.

Go to a new doctor. IMO, your gut is never wrong. Maybe she is a good doctor, but that doesn't mean she is the right doctor for you. The formula stuff...well that just shows that she is not very pro breastfeeding. I would find myself a supportive doctor.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I know that babies are usually very congested in the first few months after they are born. As for giving you formula knowing that that you are EBF, maybe she didn't hear you? I know that alot of these drs. have zero bedside manner. If you don't feel comfortable, then I would switch after your next appt. You don't need to give an explanation. Just simply say that you're switching and request a copy of your records to give to your new ped.
Good luck!

Go with your instinct. Honeslty I think it is easier to switch early on then it would be later.

I think you need to make a switch. You need someone who is going to take the time to explain what's going on with your son when you're concerned.
I would probably still go on Friday to give her one more chance.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I did want to add that many babies are congested in the beginning..but my concern is more with the formula. If you have BFing issues I can foresee her not be very supportive. I would not give her a 2nd chance. Remember you owe her nothing.Where do you live? Maybe we can make some rec'ds for you.

I use Woodbury Pediatrics. They are in Plainview.
My parents live in Farmingdale and from their house, the pediatrician is about 7-10 minutes. It's right off the LIE parkway.

We are very happy with our ped. He is in North Babylon right near Sunrise and Southern State on Deer Park Avenue.
His name is Dr Jason Hitner and the number is 631-661-2100.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I switched because we weren't happy. DD was seen at 5 days old, and this past Monday(1 month) by a different practice. Follow your gut, we are very happy with our new Peditrician.

I agree! I did at 2weeks- the new dr treated it like a newborn visit and the difference was amazing!!!!!

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I just callled to cancel my appointment and told them I wouldn't be using them anymore. My new Ped. had me fill out a request for records, so I don't even have to deal with the old office. The new office will contact the old one and obtain the records. I'm sure your new doctor can do the same.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I did the same thing. Your new pediatrician will have you fill out a form so the old office will send the records. If you request a copy, they're going to charge you per page.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I would just get yourself a new doc and make the baby's 1 month appt with the new Doc. Don't worry about giving her a reason, just don't go and cancel any appt. with her. Go with your feelings. This is going to be your baby's Doc for some time, so you should feel comfortable with whom you choose. Don't feel guilty, you are the parent and looking our for the best intrest of your child.

Re: 2nd thoughts about our ped.
I would definitely switch. If I doctor knew I wanted to EBF and handed me formula I would be very angry or if she didn't take the time to know I wanted to EBF that would bother me also. A mother's instinct is usually correct. Go with your gut.

The only thing the new ped wanted was documentation for the immunization he had received. I just called and said I needed that and they never questioned why. I haven't heard from them since!!!!
