3 ring circus at McDonald's tonite
Not sure wth I think should have happened but....my god!!!
I took my dds to mcd and there were two other families with small children as well. I went to take my dds boots off and smelt a huge funky smell of booze. Behind us laid a homeless man draped over the table passed out. I moved my kids to another area ordered my food. I noticed 5 mngrs having a mtg in he back corner of the restaurant. While waiting for my food in comes another homeless man this time with 5-6 coats on, disheveled with all types of things coming out of pockets. I directed my kids to the play area. While waiting for my food, some clown enters like a loud preacher telling us all we are going to hell for not helping the homeless and ask this man what he wants and every time he says what he wants, this clown yells it loudly. My 7 yr old now sees this scene and is getting scared. Looking back I probably should have just screwed the food but again waited. Finally with all the craziness, I asked whee my food was. They forgot about it. The place was empty but completely chaotic. Meanwhile wth was up with the 5 mngrs? Is this cr@p even allowed. How scary for all these kids watching.

That's crazy. I refuse to go to one by us. Our story is a little different. We were there one night and my son slipped and hit his head on a chair. No blood but it swelled up and was beat red. Not one person from the staff even blinked to come help or see if they could do anything. I packed up our food and split. I was pissed. As I walked out a lady maybe in her 70's came out to ask if he was ok. I thanked her for asking and left. never again! This was the Melville McD's on 110 in case anyone is wondering.

It's freezing outside so they were probably just trying to keep warm.

My thoughts as well.
I've seen homeless (during winter mostly) use fast food rest rooms or get a coffee at a bagel place.

My thoughts as well.
I've seen homeless (during winter mostly) use fast food rest rooms or get a coffee at a bagel place.
yeah, your right. They are trying to keep warm.

I tend to lean towards being tolerant, but this scene sounds pretty scary.
I think there's a difference between getting out of the cold and screaming at customers.
You don't know what someone in that state is capable of.
Glad you made it out of there safely.

Well wait.. Before I'm dismissed as being an idiot possibly...maybe I read wrong? it sounded like a non homeless person caused most (if not all) of the disruption?
Either way glad your safe. I personally haven't had any run ins with homeless people being disruptive. It's usually entitled assholes who aren't homeless that I have stories about!

That's how I read it as well. It was the loud moron who caused most of the ruckus.

Poor kid and they didn't ask if he was ok! That's horrible! I've gone to the McDs before too.

dont worry, next my 2 yr olds going to become the problem. Why was a 2 yr old brought into mcds on a Monday night while homeless were tring to keep warm and I should have covered her ears if I didn't want her to hear the big mouth bc of course I AM THE MOM.

Well I would use my judgement and leave if I deemed necessary.
Not saying I wouldn't have left or judging you - for me it would depend on my gut feeling. And again not judging you or questioning you - so please don't take this the wrong way - but the scenario you describe didn't sound too out there or else I would have assumed you'd leave and not even order food, kwim? You assessed the situation and proceeded as you saw fit.
Eta - I would write letter to corp about how managers didn't intervene with the obnoxious guy and any other concerns you had.

No I agree with you there and so would most.
Homeless or not - drunk stranger clearly intoxicated or smelling of booze - or acting erratic - I would turn and walk out. Likely immediately if I had my kids with me. Alone? Might risk it and avoid eye contact.

She didn't describe someone huddled over and drinking a cup of coffee to get warm. She described someone passed out, reeking of booze, draped over a table. Big difference. Drunk people can do scary, unpredictable things that can frighten children.
For the same reason I would not bring my little boys to a bar with drunk people, I would not like the scenario she encountered.
