3 week old eating 6 oz every 3 hours

Normal or not? He is getting mostly pumped breast milk (about 1-2 bottles of formula in a 24 hour period) but the past 3 days, he is not satisfied with anything less than 6oz

is this out of the ordinary?

not sure....my dd is 3 mos and eats 5 every 3 during the day....if your dc is happy, then don't worry probably....

My friends DD is about 4 weeks and eating about that. I wouldn't say it's the norm, but if he isn't spitting it up he probably needs it!!

DS was this way. Within a week of coming home from the hospital he was eating 5oz a sitting and was eating every 2.5 hours.

Dont worry some babies just have bigger appetites!

i would say as long as there is no vomit or excessive spit up - then baby's happy!

emma's only up to 6 ounces every 4 hours now - but she was having some issues.....(she was sick, reflux, etc.)

i say if your DS needs it and doesnt spit it up then its fine

DD is 6 weeks eating 4 oz every 4 hrs

at 3 weeks my DS went through an incredible growth spurt and wanted so much food. He then calmed down. Right now we feed him 4.5 oz or so every 3-4 hours (usually closer to 3) and at night give him a little more to hold him over (a suggestion by the nurse in NICU). The baby will show signs if its too much or something is wrong.
