30 Above Question
So I just called court street with this question...
I graduated with an excess of 25 credits for my Bachelor's degree, would those 25 credits count towards my 30 above?
and this is the reply I got...
"Technically, those credits shouldn't count, but some people get them to, so just send the application for a salary differential with your transcript and see what happens."
Really? So what does it depend on the mood the person processing my application is in that day.
anyone have experience with this, comments/answers would be appreciated! TIA

Re: 30 Above Question
they shouldnt count because they are undergrad credits. the "above" 30 should be "30 above" your masters degree

Re: 30 Above Question
the person you spoke to was wrong. undergraduate credits ABOVE what was required can count toward your differentials.
from this document http://www.uft.org/files/attachments/salary-step-guide.pd
These credits (undergraduate or graduate) may have been earned prior to the conferral of the Bachelor’s degree but cannot be credits used toward or required for the Bachelor’s degree. If any credits were earned prior to the conferral of the Bachelor’s degree, an original letter signed by the school’s registrar and bearing the school seal must identify the exact number of credits required for the degree and the number of excess credits.

That's exactly what I was hearing from others but wanted to get it confirmed by someone. Since I get better answers here than from the DOE themselves, should I wait until I complete the other 5 credits to send the application or should I send it now to be evaluated?

Re: 30 Above Question
From what I understand, you should submit the paperwork for the classes within 6 months of when the class is over; but you are supposed to apply for the salary differential when you have completed all 30 credits.
