30 Day Shred people, or anyone who knows about weights/strength training
I am doing Level 1 and have been pretty regular with it for about 6 weeks. For all the exercises but 1, I use 3 lb hand weights, having worked my way up from 2 lbs. I am finding now that 3 lbs is too easy. My question is, do I get heavier weights or move up to Level 2? I am still sucking wind with some of the cardio and my bicycle crunches are terrible so I have been hesitant to leave Level 1, but maybe I'm ready? Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with 30 day shred, but what I've heard, and I may be wrong, is that you might want to use lighter weights but do more reps *or* do them v e r y slowly. I think if you start adding weight, you will add bulk rather than elongating the muscle.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I say move up to level 2. I moved up every 10 days, even though it was a challenge.
After 30 days, I interchanged the levels to keep it interesting and to work out different muscles.

I'd say go ahead and move to level 2. If you don't want to, you CAN up your weight until you feel good about the cardio & crunches too - using, say, 5 lb weights wouldn't be a bad thing, you know? - but I'd try level 2 and see how it goes.

I would go to level 2. Just becareful with the weights if she has you doing punches with them. If your weight is too heavy you can really hurt your arm.

Nope, you'r correct. With the DVD, because it's timed, you're kind of limilted in the # of reps you can do so I wasn't sure what to do.
Anyway, I moved up to Level 2 last night. It was hard! But after I could see that I was ready and that Level 1 was too easy. Thanks everyone.
