I thought I was going to skate by w/o them since I'd made it this far, but at 35 weeks I have finally started getting "cankles". Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I guess I should be happy I made it this far, but oh my god....I get home from work and I don't even recognize my ankles!!! PLEASE tell me I'm not alone!!!!Chat Icon

Re: 30+ week girls!

haha, sadly I had cankles before pregnancy so I don't notice anything different. Sometimes my feet swell, but only after a long day of work.

I haven't gotten them yet but I remember with my first PG I didn't see them until I was 39-40 weeks.

Hey - its an excuse to put your feet up! Chat Icon

Do you do anything special for the swelling aside from putting your feet up??

nope, but my swelling hasn't been bad. I know Jenn2999 had this problem. Not sure what she's been doing.

Re: 30+ week girls!

Same here, and sometimes it's so difficult to walk!

I'm having a terrible time being able to wear any type of shoe as well.

I keep my feet elevated under my desk at work (I have one of those foot rests) and just drink as much as possible. At home I keep my feet elevated and do the same. Not much else you can really do.

I know I need to drink more water. I know that the more water you drink, the more the swelling gets flushed out of your body so I guess I'm not drinking enough to do that either.

Re: 30+ week girls!

I haven't gotten them yet.....35 weeks here. But I have noticed I'm A LOT thirstier.... I think I drank like 7 liters of water last night!!!

Keep drinking water, you need more now then ever, cut down on salt and try and keep your feet up as much as possible. If you are still wearing heels, I would retire them and get in some nice comfy flats!

ALMOST THERE!!!

BTW...... I'm sending you an email later today about the stuff we are talking about! Don't worry I didn't forget!Chat Icon

Stopped wearing the heels a couple of weeks ago....more of a balance issue....I just felt too uneasy on them. But seriously, the swelling is unbelievable, my jaw dropped to the floor. It's not consistent, like in the morning and during the day they're normal, but when I get home from work and take off my shoes...holy crap! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon So yes, more water it is, and I'm right at this moment looking for something to prop my feet up that I can slide under my desk.

And no worries, I didn't think you forgot!Chat Icon

Swelling at the end of the day is normal...... Just try and bump up your water intake and it should help!! Ask DH to rub your feet too!!

Re: 30+ week girls!

No cankles yet. I've heard of girls in the 3rd trimester having swollen feet. I'm still waiting for mine to start swelling.

Re: 30+ week girls!

you are not alone my friend. My ankles are so gross.

Do you get that line from your socks? it is so gross. I can push on it and almost see the water moving from all the retention!!

just let your dh rub them.

I am at the point now where i want dh to rub the pressure points to i can go into labor!

Re: 30+ week girls!

I haven't gotten cankles yet (thank god!) but it's a huge fear of mine. I don't want them!! Chat Icon But I have suddenly gotten a bunch of stretch marks in the past week when I thought I'd get by without them. Chat Icon
