30 weeks pregnant and a 5-6 hour car ride with 2 two-year olds. Doable?

My IL's live 5+ hours away and I am debating whether or not we will go there for christmas. I'll be 30 weeks at that point. I am already uncomfortable in the car for more than 15-20 minutes, will I be able to tolerate a ride like this at 30 weeks? Not to mention we'll have two toddlers with us as well.

I did a 6 hour car ride at exactly 30 weeks pregnant. I do not have toddlers, but was able to tolerate the car ride. I brought a pillow with me which actually helped me get comfortable in different positions.

Re: 30 weeks pregnant and a 5-6 hour car ride with 2 two-year olds. Doable?

I'm 28 weeks this week and couldn't do 5-6 hours in a car right now. DH wanted to go up to the mountains in VA for Thanksgiving with his family and I vetoed that a LONG time ago, much to his chagrin... it's just so hard to get comfortable already, I can't imagine how Ill be in 6 more weeks!

That's just my personal opinion on it. We drove 1 1/2 hours to his parents' home on Friday (came back Sunday) and I wasn't having the best car ride. I found sleeping in the car to be the best way to deal with it, but I still felt like I had to use the bathroom, even in that short ride (I made it, but was uncomfortable at the end). My back also wasn't very happy with me.

I had asked my doctor about Thanksgiving, and he also said I wouldn't be comfortable. Maybe talk to your doctor and see what he says. It would certainly make your decision easier!

Mine did.....I asked about it because we drive to Florida every year. My doctor said the only way we could do it is if we were to stop so I could stretch every 45 minutes to an hour, which is not possible on a trip to Florida. He really didn't even want me to get on a plane without getting up every 45 minutes to stretch. So we are staying home this year. I am really bummed about it.

I think you would be fine as long as you have no issues up until that point

I will be driving 9 hours + at 30 weeks for Thanksgiving.... I did it 2 years ago, I was 28 weeks. I just tried to move around in the car, and stretch some.... It was a bit uncomfy, but doable.
Edited to say, we have a 4 year old and 21 month old......

I think it's a personal thing. I'm 31 weeks and just took a trip to vermont this past weekend. The trip there was 6 hours We made stops every 2-3 hours or so so I could stretch my legs and get circulation. It wasn't the most comfortable thing but I guess it depends how badly you want to go...

I say just make sure you make a lot of stops and drink PLENTY of water.

I'm not sure if I could do it...but more power to you!
