30th wedding anniversary-
Its my IL's 30th wedding anniversary- should we (DH, myself and SIL) be doing something for them- a party or something?
Or do you typically only have a party for their 50th?

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
My inlaws are celebrating 35 years this year and they want a party. So no, I don't think it is for 50 years only.

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
There was a party and vow renewal for Dh's grandparent's 50th anniversary.
Maybe a family dinner?
DH gave them a DVD slideshow. He scanned pics of their entire lives, broke them into chapters and set them to music all the way up to the present time. They loved it.

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
We had a small, surprise family gathering at my cousins for my parents 30th Anniversary. (Small for us means 30 people though!!). Myself, my sister, Grandma & cousin did the cooking!

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
I think it warrants at least a small celebration w/ immediate family.
It doesn't have to be a gala, expensive event with everyone they ever knew in attendance.
I'd start out small and see where you can go from there.
It's more about the thoght that counts and recognizing their 30 years of marriage
ETA: I just thought of a nice gift... maybe a professional portrait of them with all of their kids, spouses and grandkids.

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
My in-laws had a party for their 25th and for their 30th just went out to dinner. If they haven't had a party for an anniversary I would say maybe a party would be nice, doesn't need to be huge

With the way your MIL treats you, I give you a lot of credit for even thinking of her. She should wake up and see what a great DIL she has.
But to answer your question, yes, I think the 30th should be acknowledged in some way.

Thanks! She drives me up the wall- but my IL's have done alot to help us out in the past... PLUS Im trying this new thing... accepting people for who they are...
So Im trying to accept my MIL- for Overbearing, obesseive control freak that she is
They did not have any kind of celebration for their 25th- and I feel like they will be a little old to truely enjoy a aprty fot their 50th.... KWIM ?

Re: 30th wedding anniversary-
Thank you for asking this.
My parents are celebrating 30 yrs next year and I have been pondering the idea of throwing a party - we didn't do it for their 20th or 25th, so I was thinking for their 30th. I wonder if people will think that is ok.
