31 Weeks sono yesterday.. and think my sono tech slipped up..

and told me the sex...

Dh and I decided this pregnancy not to know.. So usually as soon as I walk into sono room I remind her.. "dont want to know sex".. This time went alone b/c dd was crankie. Mid way through sono she asked me "did you want to know.. i never remember who does and doesnt".. so I say "nope".. then at then end of sono she asked me "Do you want a picture of HER face with HER hand by it?"...

I didnt ask her about the comment b/c I figured if she did slip up she would have to try and find an excuse making it more clear that it was a slip up.. Figured this way not knowing if its a slip up, im still kinda in the clouds about knowing.. but I cant help but be upset about possibly knowing.. Same thing happened to my sister.

When I got home told DH and he said "Oh well, we wont know for sure until feb". My fathers reaction "I knew it was a girl.. your big again" Thanks dad!!

I'm so sorry....it sounds like an honest mistake and your dh is right you don't know for sure.

This happened to my step-mother too when she was pregnant with my little brother. The tech made a comment about not buying any prom dresses for this baby. This was after she made it clear they did not want to know the sex.

Awww, I'm sorry that happened But it may not be 100% true, some times they always refer to the baby has a him or her depending on the tech....so you still may be surprised!!!

I know a lot of times, the doctors and sono techs just refer to the baby as "her" so that might have been it! But like you said, you won't know for sure till Feb

I go for a sono on Thursday at 31 weeks and now I need to make sure I remind them that I don't wanna know. As of right now, my doc doesn't even know so I'm gonna tell this tech not to even write it in my chart again!

hmmm, you never know. It might not be a slip, maybe its just how she refrenced the baby.

Honestly-- it can mean anything. When I did the 3D sono, the tech said-- I always just call the baby "he" because I have 3 boys and it's just what I say-- so don't think anything of it. She said this at the beginning, so I know she hadn't seen anything yet.

Some people feel the need to insert a pronoun when talking about a baby, and they just use the one that feels most natural to them.

Sorry if you feel the surprise was ruined-- but even if you do end up having a girl-- it doesn't mean the sono tech slipped up. There are only two kinds of babies out there! Try not to let yourself get down about it.

Its funny b/c it was literally right after she asked if i wanted to know.. so im hoping its just a habit of her refering all babys as hers. Its the same tech I always have and had with dd.. so tryign to think if she ever did this before.. Oh well cant change time.

Yes everything Looks great!! Thanks for asking! Fluid is great, and baby is no longer breech and head down and ready to roll!! Cant believe its almost time!!

this exact thing happened to my best friend and guess what? The woman was WRONG that did the u/s....she had a girl - the woman made boy comments to her....so she was TRULY stunned when the baby came out and was a girl!!!!

My doc called ours by a sex before the sono, sometimes they dont like to call it... it... so they pick a sex and use that to refer to the baby... maybe that is all it was!
