Check with your doctor. I believe Advil is a no go because it has Ibeprofin (sp) in it

Re: Advil, why cant we take this.
found this when googled
Q. I have often read that taking tylenol is not too bad to take when pregnant. But I am a loyal Advil fan; I find it works faster and lasts longer for me. I have had a persistent and often painful headache for 2 days and all I have in the house is Advil. Can I take Advil or do I need to go get Tylenol?
A. No advil, sorry. Only tylenol. The reason is that Advil (any type of Ibuprofen) is a prostaglandin inhibitor. Prostaglandin is a chemical that does many things, including cause a valvular problem in the fetal heart. In order to avoid the possibility of that occurring, we advise you to avoid it during pregnancy.

Re: Advil, why cant we take this.
Hi there,
I feel your pain---and thensome. I am also allergic to tylenol (highly allergic---I would die if I take it), and spoke at length with my OB about taking an advil or motrin on occasion b/c I have 3 complete herniations in my cervical spine (neck) which sometimes become so unbearable I cannot move a single inch and become bed-ridden all day.
I explained to him that the only thing that used to work was Flexiril, but since narcotics/muscle relaxents aren't an option at all during pregnancy (IMO), at least an advil or two would take the edge off of the pain.
My doctor said as long as I don't use it daily and not at any doses higher than 400mg (2 pills)....the baby would be fine. I've used it twice in the 8 weeks since I found out and haven't had any issues yet.
But, I would certainly check with your doctor first, only because it is a no-no. I'm sure yours will advise you the same as mine did---it's ok on a rare occasion, but not for regular use.

Re: Advil, why cant we take this.
Advil also can make you bleed, especially if you are in your first trimester, as it thins the blood. I would drink lots of water, put a heat pack on your head and go to sleep in an airconditioned room. If that doesn't work, drink a cup of tea. Sometimes this helps me. Feel better!!!
