32-33 weeks sono- large AC (stomach) measurement? Help

Not sure if anyone went through something like this so I wanted to ask because I am already really stressed out that something could be wrong. I had my first growth sono today at 32 weeks, 5 days and the baby is measuriing large overall at 5 pounds 2 ouncesChat Icon . The sono tech had her boss come in because the AC (abdominal cavity- stomach) measurement was larger than normal and while my DD overall is in the 75% for weight that particular measurement was in the 90th percentile. Her boss took a look. re-measured and then said it was OK because DD was still on the chart at 90th, but you guys know how that is and I am freaking out anyway. I am wondering if maybe its GD that is making the baby larger than normal, since I passed the GD test but had borderline passing numbers (I had GD with DD #1- but she as born at 6lbs 15 ounces, even though they were predicting her to be a bit over 8 lbs). I am just not sure if I should freak out and call my OB tomorrow (I have an appointment with her on Monday) or what Chat Icon Anyone go through something similar? I made the HUGE mistake of googling and a ton of stuff regarding cysts and tumors came up even though nothing like that was discussed during the sono (would they have been able to even see that?)

My DS and DD both had "big bellies' in their sono pics....The tech always commented on it at my sono's and they were 9-12 & 9-13lbs., healthy as can be..I did not have GD, but just have big babies Chat Icon

If they aren't concerned, I would try to relax (I know it's hard) ...Definately don't google !!Chat Icon

I had the same thing. I had to redo the 3 hr glucose test and passed again. In the end, she was just a very large baby and stayed large her first year. She is now pretty much average at 15 mths.

At this stage is when they realized my DS was a lot bigger than normal. They were concerned about specific measurements like the stomach and head.

In the end, all that happened was I gave birth to an early 11 1/2 pound baby. And I didn't have GD. Sometimes things happen for no reason.

Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences with me. Chat Icon I guess I am a bit more worried than normal because I did have GD with my first DD and I'm thinking maybe that I passed this time was a fluke and I might have it and its affecting the baby. Chat Icon

Re: 32-33 weeks sono- large AC (stomach) measurement? Help

this happened with my dd also. She measured 4 weeks a head of schedule from about 28 wEeks they kept saying my dates were off when I knew they clearly werent. I didn't have GD. The techs and dr always commented on her size

I had a ton of pre term labor complications. And had about 5 growth scans and she was consistently measuring 4 weeks a head at all times I delivered at 37 weeks with an ultrasouund done that day of her head and everthing she was measuring 41 weeks!!

When she was born she was 7lb10 oz at 37 weeks they said had I made it to 40 weeks she would have been well over 11lbs.

Try to relax if there's a concern your ob will all you Chat Icon
