36 weeks & anxious...Can anyone share their experience delivering with Dr. Porte, Dr. Okeefe, Dr. Welischar, or Dr. Lochner?
I am currently 36 weeks and am getting anxious about labor and delivery. Just got back from my appointment and am 1 cm dilated an 50% effaced. I am getting very nervous. I haven't exactly loved being pregnant and am happy it will be over soon, but I am scared of delivery and recovery. I am praying I don't end up induced and/or with a c-section. I have seen all the doctors in this practice at least once but have tried to stick with Dr. Lochner--love her and am hoping she is the one on call when I deliver.
Today I thought I would go to one of the other doctors in the practice that I haven't seen since about 9 weeks (when something happened I just didn't like and have avoided seeing since) just to "show my face" again before this baby decided to come. Again I had a poor experience and I feel like this particular doctor is not very personable and we just would not gel well. Anyway, I got into my car and just started crying (hormones, I know) thinking I really don't want this particular doctor delivering my baby. I tried to give it a second chance, but it didn't turn out well. It might just be me, because girls on LIF have recommended this doctor.
Has anyone had delivery experiences with any of the doctor's in this practice? What did you like/dislike? Did they acknowledge what you wanted? How was their bedside manner? I have a feeling Dr. Lochner will be wonderful, so I am really concerned about the other 3. Please share, maybe it will put my mind at ease a bit. Thanks!

i have no experience with the doctors you name, but here is a . just keep in mind the doctor is only a tiny part of the delivery who shows up at the very end (think: relief pitcher!). although of course you should feel comfortable with your choice of provider.

I absolutly love that practice. I just delieverd my DS in January. I started with high blood pressure and they were great with following me for it. All the doctors in the practice were on the same page so it was great. I was induced at 37 weeks because of the blood pressure. I never progressed with dilation and my son decided that he didn't like the contractions (he dropped his heartrate with each contraction)...Dr. O'Keefe was in the hospital with me and was great at monitoring everything and made the great/correct judgement to do a c-section. My son had the cord wrapped around his neck once and has no problems from it. My incision healed great. Follow up was fantastic...including a late night visit the day of my section. I would so recommend that group to anyone. All the doctors are fantastic and so easy to interact with.
