Re: 38 1/2 week update
You might not end up with a c-section in the event you have an induction. Hopefully you will go before next week and you wont even have to think about it.

Re: 38 1/2 week update
Wow, I'm surprised a midwife would suggest an induction before trying to at least holistically induce you!
Maybe give them a call and see if there is anything naturally you can do to get the process started. (ie castor oil, sex, walking, primrose oil, etc).
Hang in there!

hopefully if you are induced you will not need a c section though. Or hopefully will come out on his own before then!

Re: 38 1/2 week update
Whatever happens...good luck to you. Your baby will be here soon! As for movement, I was having similar issues where I felt less frequent movement and that made the OB freak out. He told me I should feel the same amount of movement but with less intensity (no more super kicks). Everytime I went to get monitored for movement, DS was always in a sleep cycle and the lack of movement scared me. The only thing I could do to wake him up was 2 bowls of ice cream and apple juice

Re: 38 1/2 week update
I know a lot of people that were induced and did not have to have c-sections.
I've heard that reflexology can also trigger labor--I think massaging certain parts of the feet in particular. At the very least, it might be relaxing.
Hopefully you can stop working soon so that you can relax and keep your feet up. If you can't stop working completely, can you work on a reduced schedule? Like half days or something?
Lots of lock to you!

Re: 38 1/2 week update
I'm sorry that you they are stressing you like this. Try not to stress too much over it and just let nature take it's course. I can understand them being concerned if you are swelling but I disagree with them about the movement. I hope you don't have to be induced but if it makes you feel any better I know A LOT of women who were induced that did not have to get c-sections.

Re: 38 1/2 week update
Drink some OJ and go on your left side. That always helps the movements. The baby is just cozy

I hope you go on your own soon
I have to say, though, I don't think I ever felt my baby move 4-5 times per hour and he definitely did slow down at the end. He's perfectly healthy.
Try not to get too stressed out about it and take care of yourself. Maybe you should think about stopping work if you haven't already?

Re: 38 1/2 week update
I am still working and will be working til the end. There is no way around it - don't ask loooong story. But I have been working from home a little here and there. I plan on leaving a few hours early today to work from home.
So at my next appointment it is not a definite thing I will be induced, they want to discuss it, because of all of the weight gain which is actually a lot of fluid retention. My first reaction was FEAR because I really want to do this naturally. I know that every induction does not end in a c-section but if my body is not ready it may end up that way. I would rather wait. So on wednesday if they want to induce me I will suggest trying natural methods to induce first. I am really hoping the baby comes on his own. I had contractions again last night from 8 pm - 4 am 10 minutes apart... then they stopped

Sounds like you're body is getting ready. Hopefully he just speeds up a bit to avoid the induction.
Whatever you do, try not to stress. It won't help. I am a true believer of mind over matter. So just visualize yourself going into labor and your body ready to release this little miracle and hopefully it will happen!

Re: 38 1/2 week update
To be honest, unless I had completely over the top swelling I wouldn't do an induction. As long as there is no protrein in the urine or high blood pressure I wouldn't be concerned.
I was very swollen with DS. I was retaining water so I was huge. My midwife wasn't concerned one bit because everything else was normal.
If you do end up wanting to go through with the induction, tell them you want to know your Bishop score. If it isn't 9 or higher and not an emergent situation I'd skip the induction. Here is a link about Bishop scores. Bishop's Score
