38 Week Appointment Last Night

Still no progress with baby, just a fingertip. Fine with me, she's comfy in there, that's okay with me! Weight gain good, her heartbeat was good, urine good, belly measured good.

But, my BP was a little high. It was 110/86, and supposedly anything 90+ for the bottom number is of concern. I don't really have any swelling, haven't had any headaches or blurred vision, so hopefully it was just a fluke, although I really have been on my feet & probably overdoing it a lot the last few weeks, which I'm sure doesn't help. They had me lay on my left side for a few minutes before they re-tested me, but it was the same # again. So I have to go back in this morning to get it checked again, if it's still high, they're sending me for blood work (not sure what this would show or test for though Chat Icon )

And of course, baby didn't move nearly as much yesterday or so far today as she has in the past few days, so I get nervous. Chat Icon So I'll definitely tell the doc this morning when I go. I just always get nervous that my fluid is low (no reason, just a fear), but I guess they'd notice that by measuring my belly?

110/86 is high?? That sounds pretty normal to me. I am almost always 120/80 which is perfect they tell me. I wouldn't worry too much, may have been from the heat or rushing to get there, or anything.

Do you get a Bio-physical profile? This is an untrasound, and they measure the fluid. If not, they must not have any concerns about your levels, which is great.

Sounds like baby is lovng mommy's tummy! 2 more weeks right? You are doing great!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

PS try drinking some apple juice to get baby moving if you are concerned - mine goes nutso with this!

Thanks so much for the reassurance Chat Icon I guess compared to what my BP normally is (it's usually like 110/70), they just wanted to monitor me this morning. They said something about anything over 90 for the bottom number being of concern, so I'm under that...guess they're just being cautious.

No, I didn't get a bio-physical profile. I guess they don't normally do one unless there are concerns (like you said Chat Icon ). It's one of my irrational fears, since the way the baby feels now is so darn different than before, as she's bigger and less room in there.

I had some OJ this morning which usually does the trick. She's just a lazy girl probably yesterday & today, but of course now I think about it more since I have to go back to the Dr this morning. But you're right, I'm sure all is fine, and apparently she's quite comfy and content in there!!

How are you doing? You must be soooo anxious too!!!!!!!

Sounds like your Dr's are being really cautious with your BP number, which is good I guess, but it seems pretty normal to me. Otherwise, we should all probably be worrying! Chat Icon

Anyway, sounds like things are going very well overall for you!

Yeah, and like a dummy, I just realized...I have a heart condition, so they need to watch my BP more closely than others. That's probably why I'm going in today. Boy, I can't believe I forgot about that! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Can't believe how comfy all our babies are in there!! Do you have another appointment soon?

Re: 38 Week Appointment Last Night

You BP is perfectly within normal range. It is normal to be "slightly" higher when PG. But the number you told us are normal numbers for non pregnant people.

Sounds like everything went well.

Re: 38 Week Appointment Last Night

Sounds like a good appt! Your lil Chat Icon is snug as a bug. Maybe she was just sleeping a bit more than the past few days?

BP sounds normal to me too. I'm always 100/70 or 120/80. Once I was "high" and I have no clue what the #'s were. (Talk about baby brain! You'd think I'd know that)

We all have our own fears for no reason, or no medical reason. So, your worry about low fluid sounds normal Chat Icon

You're almost there! Chat Icon

As far as the blood pressure, I have low blood pressure, my norm is like 90/60, but through this pregnancy i fluctuated too, from my norm to like 110/80, your number seems good to me, but def let them check you out so you can make sure everything is good to goChat Icon

Re: 38 Week Appointment Last Night

Update: At my appointment today, BP was back down, so they're not concerned. He did tell me to go back in on Tuesday instead of waiting a full week, so they can check BP again. I told him my irrational fear of low fluid, he said it's completely understandable but he thinks I'm fine (based on measurements, no other symptoms, etc). But since I haven't had a growth sono or biophysical (not sure the difference Chat Icon ) that I could have one Tuesday also, so we can see how big she is and they'll just look at my fluid level anyway to reassure me. So, it was a good visit!! Chat Icon

Thanks all for your reassurance!
