38 weeks.. no CB class... anyone else in the same boat?
They say knowledge is power, right, but between work, apartment renovations, and DH packing on the OT in advance of there's just been no way to get to a class for us... And its not going to happen now at this late date... Anyone in the same predicament?? I feel dreadfully unprepared. Also I want to throttle DH every time he says "its instinct; your body was made for this" that may be true but my HEAD wasn't, I assure you... I wake up every night with either the weepies or the frights, this is definitely not helping! Anyone else freaking out a little bit as it gets closer??? I'm irritated at DH every waking moment too, he's not helping to get our place ready AT ALL lately and I just want to throw a large and heavy object at him when he's here sitting on the couch.
Sorry for the rant girls, I've really enjoyed the PG but these last 2 weeks have gone straight to h*e*l*l*

I took it and regret taking it. It was a waste of money. They have child birth videos if you feel really unprepared!

Colette~ I TOTALLY recommend renting and watching "laugh and Learn Lamaze". I rented it from my local library. It's a few hours long, so we broke it up into a few night's worth of viewing.
Truthfully- I got MORE info from that DVD than I did at the silly childbirth "class" my hospital offered.
I may even rent it again to brush up on the breathing techniques (which worked wonders for me).
Don't worry- and GL!

Awww Colette, I'm sorry that you are feeling jitters. Mike and I started a CB class 2 weeks ago and really like it alot. I know a lot of moms-to-be take out a video [from Blockbuster or the library] and say that it was more than enough info. Maybe check out what either has to offer in the 'hood? It will probably make you feel a whole lot better.
As for DH doing things around the house... Mike has just gotten his asss in gear getting the basement finished over the last week or two, so I know what you mean! I keep reminding him that we need it done so that we can put all of his kids toys out of the room and into a finished basement!! This kid is going to come regardless if the work is done!! So, I know how you feel! And... we also have not shopped for a crib either!! It will all come together. If you have to throw something heavy at DH, make sure you don't leave any marks. Just looking out for your well being in a criminal sense!!

i didn't take a class but i watched the laugh and learn video, which is just a class that was taped.
i didn't need any of it to give birth. your body knows what to do, and if it doesn't, the nurses tell you anyway. enjoy those hours that you didn't waste at a class and get some sleep before your little one comes. you'll be glad you did!

I had my DD without the benefit of a class. It was fine

Ditto...except I had a DS.
Actually, my L&D nurse said she preferred that I hadn't taken a class so she could just tell me what to do. And your body knows what to do.

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME, thank you so much, I can't tell you what a relief this is to hear, I will definitely get a hold of the laugh and learn vids- I can't imagine there's much laughing involved but its a cute title nonetheless.
And DH gets to live to see another day... But don't get me wrong, I've been googling the maternity ward at Rikers Island just in case...

quick quick quick...... either try to rent (library or netflix) laugh and learn about childbirth.
it's an amazing 2 dvd set that goes over all of the basics. it's also actually quite watch-able... not as boring as most educational DVDs......
