39 week appt - castor oil?
I had my 39 week appt yesterday and I am 1 cm dilated for the second week in a row. is still very far up there and the dr. didn't seem hopeful that I would deliver on time (8/11).
She suggested that I try castor oil next friday. I don't think I feel comfortable with this idea. I don't want to have diarrhea and then go into labor!!!
Anyway, since he is measuring big, she scheduled an induction for the 16th, just to be on the safe side, but she said I could go into labor naturally before then, but again, she didn't seem too hopeful.....

I tried the castor oil, but since I wasn't dilated or effaced AT ALL it did NOTHING for me, except make me miss all the Memorial Day BBQs we were invited to as I sat home on the throne allllll day.
I wouldn't do it unless you progressed a bit more.

Re: 39 week appt - castor oil?
thanks for the info. It doesn't sound like the best way to go into labor.....
I REALLY thought this baby was going to be early. I hope I go naturally before being induced on the 16th!!!

I also heard that it's unsafe because it can give the baby loose stools & he can lose some of his meconium in utero--not a good thing
