3D Sono question...
We asked a tech from the place we had our Level I and II sono done if we could have it done..and she said it can be done but we have to pay for it and it can be pretty expensive and she also said they only do it if really necessary because it's such a high powered sono that they don't want to expose the baby to more radiation than necessary????? Have you all heard this? We'd like to have it done..but now I'm afraid.

Re: 3D Sono question...
I am having it done on sat - I don't think it's expensive - I am paying $100.00. I told my dr. and she didn't have any reasons why I shouldn't get it.

Re: 3D Sono question...
My doctor is affliliated with NYU and had me go to the NYU lab to have it done - was covered by my insurance. Havent read anything about any dangers associated with it - it's very common now, I wouldnt say it's only done in extreme cases.
As for the radiation concern your doctor has - the tech explained to me that there was no additional radiation than from a 2d sono - it's all sound waves.
There is a place in East Meadow where a lot of women have gone - $100.

Re: 3D Sono question...
I had a few problems in the middle of my pregnancy and was sent to a specialist. they did quite a few 3d sonos - my ins covered them all, which was great. I was told there was no danger to the baby. We had atleast 5 done ...DD is 10 mths old and she is just fine ;)
good luck!!

Re: 3D Sono question...
I actually read and was told by more than one Dr. that the actual 3D sono machine is the same exact technology as the 2D, but what makes it 3D is the way the computer interprets the data. As far as exposing your baby to more severe waves, the Dr.'s said that you aren't exposing them to anything stronger then the regular 2D.

Re: 3D Sono question...
Thank you so much ladies!!I have a feeling the doctor from the other place told us that because THEY don't do them there and we weould be going somewhere else. I spoke with my doctor last night and he said we could do it but it would cost about $250? Does anyone have the number to the place in East Meadow? I have to get it done in the next 7 weeks.
