40th birthday ideas
My husband is turning 40 in November and I’d love to plan a party. Nothing too crazy because he doesn’t love being the center of attention, so really just our close friends. Maybe around 30 people. Should I just book a room at a restaurant with an open bar? Any other ideas??

Room at restaurant with open bar is nice for sure. A friend of ours rented the upstairs room at Croxley’s In farmingdale. That was pretty cool. There were TVs and the fights were on. It was a small space but separate from main bar so the guests weren’t packed in.

Re: 40th birthday ideas
I don’t have any ideas, but if you said he doesn’t love being the center of attention, would 30 people be too much? I hate being the center of attention and 30 people there for my birthday would make me very nervous. I remember for my 30th, my exH wanted to give me a party, albeit a small one, and I put a stop to it right away.
Then again you know him best.

Re: 40th birthday ideas
What about a private space or a sectioned off area at a brewery or biergarten? Would that maybe help him to feel less in the center of attention?

We have been there - that’s a great idea. My friend had her 40th last year in the upstairs area of the Library Cafe, so I was thinking something along those lines.

Yes! Any breweries you can recommend?

Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue is awesome and brand new. There’s also Hop Tron in Patchogue. They do beer tastings and have board games. Very cool atmosphere, but on the small side.

I've been to and enjoyed Great South Bay in Bay Shore, Blue Point in Patchogue, Barrier in Oceanside, and Oyster Bay Brewing in Oyster Bay. The latter two are smaller than the others, so I'm unsure if they have spaces to section off...but maybe!
Also, Plattduetsche in Franklin Square does private parties in the biergarten.

Our friend hosted her husband's 50th upstairs in the brickhouse. they did a beer tasting for who ever wanted it.
Also been to an event on the second floor of James Joyce. Was very nice.
