Juliana Lily, 5/10/09... my Mother's Day baby!!
On Sunday, I woke up around 5 am having contractions. I realized that they were like 3 minutes apart, but they weren't intense or anything. Since I had 2 marathon labors previously, I didn't think it was a big deal. I didn't even think I was really in labor. I got up around 6 and had a gush of bright red blood. I called the dr. & they said to come right over to L&D, but we had to wait for my father in law to get to us to watch the kids. He got to our house at about 6:45, and we were at the hospital at 7.
We went to admitting at Good Sam, where there was some young guy checking us in. By this point, my contractions were 2 min apart & intense, but this admitting guy was taking FOREVER and being a total jerk. Just when I was about to reach across the desk & punch him, my water broke all over his office. HA-HA. It was karma
They whisked me up to L&D, where I realized my water was all merconium. The dr was concerned, but not super-upset until they put the monitor on me & realized the baby's heartbeat was awful & she was in major distress. The doctor told me she would give me 20 minutes for the tracing to get better and then we HAD to get the baby out. At this point, I was only 5 cm. As soon as I heard the word "c-section" I freaked out, crying & stuff, but my DH was awesome and I managed to pull it together.
The baby's heartbeat dropped even more, and I was in the OR in 5 minutes. They barely waited until I was numb to start, and I had A LOT of pain during the Csection. They didn't even wait until my DH was in the room... they had already started when they let him in. It was the most traumatic expericence of my life. I got sick all over the operating table during it, and I didn't get to see the baby until late in the afternoon, because she was having problems breathing. The recovery has been awful. I guess because it was such an emergency my incision is huge, (hipbone to hipbone) and I have been having a lot of problems moving around. Thank God, Juliana is beautiful & healthy now. She weighed 8 lbs and was 21 inches long. I will post pics when I can. Her brother & sister are in love with her, as am I & DH!!
I am so thankful that everything turned out OK, but I am still really traumatized from the birth, and, as silly as it sounds, I think it's going to take me a while to get over it.
I wish everyone on the PG board happy & healthy deliveries!!!!

I am so sorry your birth was so traumatic. I don't think it's silly at all. It will take a while to recover both mentally and physically. Take care and enjoy your baby girl!

I am sorry that you had such a traumatic L&D. As an FYI my c/s is hip bone to hip bone too. It is about a good 7-8 inch scar. I also have some additional padding on either side so it minimizes the size of the scar but I think that is a common length.
