thurs is my 1st internal....what can I expect???

I know its been asked before but I have other questions too....

should dh be in the rm still?
(he has no interest in peeking mind you! :) )

do I have to get naked ?
(if not, can I wear a skirt and "hike" it so ob can "get in there" ??)

whats it like?
(worse than an internal sono/pap smear,etc?? - I didn't think that was so bad...)

Don't worry, its not as bad as I was expecting.

My DH wasn't with me, but I'm sure he could have been.

They have you get naked from the waist down.

I didn't think it was worse than a pap smear or internal sono. It's a little uncomfortable, but not so bad.

so naked from the wasit down.....with nothing on your legs at all or a drapey thing??

(sorry I am obsessive about my shyness...my poor delivery nurses and staff when i give birth!!)

They give you a drapey thing to put over yourself. Don't worry, you won't be sitting there naked!

i really don't think they are that bad. maybe because my dr makes me feel very comfortable.

the good thing with internals are, you will know if you are progressing!!

My first internal is Thursday as well. It's not too bad. I think it gets a little more uncomfortable the further along you are. I'm glad my Dr. said since I'm a 2nd time mom with a scheduled C-section that I don't have to come back until 37 weeks after 35 weeks and then I'll be going for weekly visits which will only consist of 1 weekly visit since the c-section is in week 39.

thanks mommies (and mommies to be!) - good to know about the drapey thing, I was starting to have heart palpations thinking I would be airing out in the breeze!!!!
